The FC Epe (officially: Fußballclub Epe 1912 eV ) is a soccer club from the Gronau district of Epe in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Borken . The first team took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

The club was founded on August 8, 1912 as FC Wacker Epe . This was called from October 24, 1924 Spiel- und Sportverein Epe . In 1934 this had to merge with all other Eper sports clubs under pressure from the National Socialists to form VfL Epe . After the end of the Second World War , VfL Epe was dissolved and FC Epe was founded. At the same time, the club's colors were changed from black and yellow to blue and white.

In 1946, FC Epe was promoted to the Emsland district class . There the FCE was runner-up in 1952, 1953, 1955 and 1957 behind SpVgg Rheine , Eintracht Ahaus , local rivals SG Gronau and again SpVgg Rheine. In 1969 the team was relegated to the 1st district class and only made it back up in 1976. Two years later, the Epern succeeded in promotion to the then fourth-class Landesliga Westfalen . At the same time, the team qualified for the DFB Cup, where the Eper had to travel to 1. SC Göttingen 05 in the first round and lost 2-0.

After four years of the regional league, it went back to the regional league in 1982. After a runner-up in 1985 behind local rivals Vorwärts Epe , he returned to the national league in 1987, which was followed by immediate relegation. In the following years, FC Epe became an elevator team between the district league and district league A. In 2014, after play-offs against SuS Olfen, they were promoted to the district league again.
