1971/72

The Austrian Football Association's Cup was played for the 40th time in the 1972/73 season.

The final was played in two games. In the first leg in front of 17,000 spectators in Innsbruck's Tivoli stadium , SSW Innsbruck won 1-0 (0-0) with a gold goal from Kurt Jara against SK Rapid Wien . The second leg in front of 22,000 in the Vienna Praterstadion saw the defending champion SK Rapid Wien successful against SSW Innsbruck with 2: 1 (1: 1). As a result, after the success of the 1969/70 season, Innsbruck won the ÖFB Cup for the second time due to the away goal rule .
