final
Sport-Club and Austria-WAC faced each other in the 42nd Austrian Cup final. The latter was the clear favorite, because the Sport-Club was a second division player these days, who had also lost some players in the tough promotion battle through suspensions and injuries. The first leg on the Sportclub Platz was able to win the violets just 1-0 after being physically superior in the second half, so that they could already prepare for the first title celebration in the new Weststadion. After Pirkner shot the violets in the front after just four minutes in the second leg two weeks later, the duel was decided, and in the end the Austria supporters were able to celebrate a 3-0 victory.
