Ernst Robert Baumeister (born January 22, 1957 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian football player and active trainer .
Career
As a player
The trained steel fitter began his career as a midfielder at SV Wienerfeld , from where he was transferred to Wiener Austria in 1974 for a transfer of 50,000 schillings . After 424 competitive games in which he was able to score 60 goals, he moved to FC Admira / Wacker in 1987 , with whom he surprisingly became runner-up in 1989. He then went to Kremser SC , where he was only able to play 8 games due to an injury before playing at LASK from 1990 to 1992 . At SV Traun he let his active career end from 1993 to 1996.
As an Austrian national team player , Baumeister took part in the World Cup finals in Argentina in 1978 (without action) and in Spain in 1982 . He has played a total of 39 international matches.
As a trainer
He began his coaching career in 1993 as a player coach at SV Traun . From 1996 to 1998 he trained at the BNZ Linz . He then returned to Vienna Austria and trained the amateur team until he became interim coach of the combat team in 2000 after head coach Herbert Prohaska was dismissed . After that he remained assistant trainer under Heinz Hochhauser , Arie Haan , the duo Walter Hörmann / Anton Pfeffer and Didi Constantini .
In 2002 he took over ASKÖ Pasching as an interim coach , and then went to FC Gratkorn . In 2003 he took over the office of U19 national coach before he became a coach at SC Untersiebenbrunn in 2004. From June 2005 he was a coach at Bundesliga club VfB Admira Wacker Mödling , first with Dominik Thalhammer , then with Hubert Baumgartner and from March 2007 to spring 2008 he was solely responsible, after he was at the ÖFB trainer seminar in Maria Enzersdorf from 19 to 21 January 2007 ( Theoretical units) and Wiener Neudorf (practical exercises).
From January 3, 2009 to June 19, 2013, Ernst Baumeister was in charge of the Union Mauer combat team in 1230 Vienna. From spring 2014 he was the coach of the fighting team at ASV Draßburg in the Burgenland League.
For the 2015/16 season , Baumeister was again hired as head coach at Admira. This time he looked after the team together with Oliver Lederer . After Admira had been traded as the biggest relegation candidate before the season, the start of the season was surprisingly successful, on September 12, 2015, the team took over the league lead in the Bundesliga for the first time since November 2011.
For the 2016/17 season he left Lederer the post of head coach and became the sporting director of Admira. In October 2016 he took over the amateur team on an interim basis.
After Damir Burić moved to Germany, Baumeister was again head coach of the professionals in September 2017. He was released in October 2018. At that time, Admira was last in the table. In December 2019, a new commitment as sports director of SV Stripfing was announced.
On June 8, 2020 it was announced that Baumeister is again sports director at Admira and the contract with Stripfing has been terminated. On August 10, 2020, Admira CEO Thomas Drabek announced the separation from his sports director in a broadcast. Franz Wohlfahrt was introduced as his successor the following day .
