This article deals with the Austrian men's soccer championship of the 1984/85 season. For the Austrian women's soccer championship of the 1984/85 season see under Austrian women's soccer championship 1984/85 .
The Austrian Football Championship 1984/85 was organized by the Austrian Football Association . The single-track 2nd division served as a substructure for the 1st division . The third level was the Regionalliga West (Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) and the regional leagues of Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland, Carinthia, Upper Austria and Styria.
In the 1984/85 season of the Austrian 1st Division, Wiener Austria was able to take the lead with a clear cushion of points and, as in the previous year, become Austrian champions for the 17th time. Four game days before the end of the season, the lead with a 4-0 win at FavAC was impossible to catch. Only Klagenfurt Austria could win a game against the champions this season. The Vienna Austria took part in the 1986 European Cup. The defeated Cup finalist Rapid started in the 1986 European Cup , LASK and SSW Innsbruck also played in the 1986 UEFA Cup . The team from Rapid came the furthest, but they clearly failed in the quarterfinals (home 1: 4 and away 1: 5 against Dynamo Kiev; March 5th / 19th, 1986). For Austria came in the second round (at the same time round of 16): a 2-4 defeat at Bayern Munich (23 October) followed two weeks later in the Hanappi Stadium 3: 3 (and also a suspension for her next European Cup home game because of a hammer throw by a "fan"). LASK survived the first round, then even defeated Inter Milan 1-0 at home with a goal from Johann Gröss on October 23 , but on November 6 they were 0-4 at the Meazza Stadium. Innsbruck were eliminated immediately with two defeats (A 0: 1, H 1: 3 on September 18 / October 2) against FC Lüttich .
particularities
Master Austria Wien was always in the lead, except for rounds 5, 6, 7 and 9 (where it was Rapid Wien), and there were just as many wins in 15 games at home - and 45: 2 goals. Only Přemysl Bičovský on September 7th with a free kick to the meanwhile 1: 1 in the 2-1 win of the Austrian team against SC Eisenstadt and Rupert Marko in the last round on June 7th with the goal to the 2-1 intermediate result in 4: 1 victory over SK Sturm Graz scored goals for the visiting teams in the Horr Stadium. It was strange that Friedl Koncilia was in the first goal conceded , Franz Wohlfahrt was in the Austria goal for the second , and also that Adolf Wukisewitsch was the referee. The 2: 4 in the 5th round on September 21st in the Wörtherseestadion at SK Austria Klagenfurt prevented Austria - after two Rapid Wien (1912/13 and 1934/35) and the Wiener Sport-Club (1958/59) remained without defeat. Two players, namely Erich Obermayer and Herbert Prohaska , played all 30 championship games of the Violets.
Descents
A reorganization planned from 1985/86 (12 teams each in the first and second division and a "play-off mode") meant that five teams had to be relegated. The long-distance duel in the last round was Donawitzer SV Alpine with the away game at Eisenstadt and Wiener Sport-Club with the home game against Linz ASK ; the Donawitzers won 3-2, the sports club lost 0-3. Promoted SV Spittal had already given their last chance in the penultimate round with a 2: 3 at Sturm Graz.
