The VfB Hohenems is an Austrian football club from the Vorarlberg town of Hohenems . The club has been playing in the third-class Regionalliga West since the 2016/17 season . Hohenems plays its home games in the Herrenriedstadion .

history

VfB Hohenems was founded in 1923 by Josef Amann, Anton Amann, Martin Peter, Rudolf Häusle, Franz Vonach, Eduard Jäger, Hermann Amann, Johann Rüdisser, Adolf Klien and Josef Drexel . The club's first major success was winning the Vorarlberg state championship in 1967 and the associated promotion to the second-rate Regionalliga West . In the 1970/71 season , the Hohenems team was able to achieve their best result with fourth place, but a year later they were relegated to the state league.

In this, the club had to admit defeat to FC Dornbirn 3: 4. Nevertheless, they qualified for the ÖFB-Cup 2014/15 . There the club reached the 2nd round after a 5-1 win against USC Eugendorf , in which it was the final destination with a 0-5 defeat against SCR Altach . In the 2014/15 season, the club reached second place in the Vorarlbergliga as a promoted team .
