Josef Degeorgi (born January 19, 1960 in Bad Vöslau , Lower Austria ) is a former Austrian football player . The defender took part in the 1982 World Cup and was three times Austrian champion with Wiener Austria .
Career
Josef Degeorgi began his career as a striker in the student team of his home club ASK Bad Vöslau. From 1974 he played at FC Admira / Wacker , where he was withdrawn into the defense. He fought for a regular place in the fighting team for the first time in 1979/80 . In 1982 he and his team reached a European Cup starting place for the first time and made his debut under his former coach Felix Latzke in the 3-2 away win against Hungary on March 24th in the Austrian national team . After scoring the winning goal against Denmark two months later as a defender , he became a regular at the last minute for the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where he was also on the starting line-up in the first four games. Austria was able to achieve eighth place.
Correspondingly courted by this rapid rise, he came to Vienna Austria in January 1983 , where he was to celebrate his greatest successes. Before he switched back to FC Admira / Wacker in the summer of 1990, he was Austrian champion three times in a row from 1984 to 1986 and also won the ÖFB Cup in 1986 , with a 6-4 final after extra time against Rapid in the Gerhard-Hanappi- Stadium also entered the shooting list. The greatest international success during this time was the entry into the European Cup semi-finals in 1983 , with Josef Degeorgi himself seeing the promotions against FC Barcelona and Inter Milan as the greatest success.
After a 1990/91 season with FC Admira / Wacker, Josef Degeorgi went to VfB Mödling in the 2nd division at the end of his professional career , where he was promoted in 1992. The defender spent the end of his career at SV Rohrbach and again at ASK Bad Vöslau as a player-coach. In 1999 Josef Degeorgi put on the purple dress while still in Bad Vöslau . He worked as a coach from 2003 to 2007 at FC Stadlau and from 2007 to 2009 at ASV Vösendorf . Until 2012 he coached SV St. Margarethen . From the end of February 2018 he trained the FSG Oberpetersdorf / Schwarzenbach. In November of the same year he took over the coaching position at ASC Leobersdorf.
