The SV Rohrbach is an Austrian football club in the village of Rohrbach bei Mattersburg in Burgenland . He is a member of the Burgenland Football Association . Since relegation from the Burgenland regional league after the 2007/08 season, the club has played in the II. Middle League, the second-highest league in Burgenland.
history
After the first football clubs were founded in the area after the annexation of Burgenland to Austria, efforts were made in Rohrbach between 1928 and 1931 to found a football club. The lack of a sports facility, but also the financial means, prevented regular gaming operations. Therefore, although there were good players, the activities were limited to occasional friendly matches. These were originally carried out behind the former brick kiln or next to the railway viaduct and later on a sand meadow by Paul Pusitz. In parallel, the "Erdalclub" of Dominikus Schütz developed in the upper town and the "Schmollclub" in the lower town, both of which were made up of students. When the fighting team died down, their activities also ended.
After Austria's annexation , it was the Hitler Youth in 1938 who revived the almost forgotten football sport. Training was initially carried out in the “Peischl-Graben” and later on the “Duwlwiese”, which, however, had the blemish that there was a mighty pear tree on it. With the conscription of men fit for military service in the Second World War , football came to a standstill again.
After the end of the Second World War, sports-loving idealists soon found themselves who revived football in the community. Franz Radowan, Hans Hosenseidl, Lorenz Schütz, Matthias Fasching, Hans Bauer, Lorenz Kutrowatz, Ferdinand Riegler, Matthias Radowan and Johann Pinezich founded the Rohrbach sports club on February 27, 1946. Franz Prikosowitsch was elected first chairman, Stefan Radowan as secretary and Julius Herowitsch as treasurer. The club colors were set in black and white. The circumstances are hardly imaginable today, because there was neither playing clothing that complied with the rules, nor a competitive ball. Everything from fine calfskin, sturdy work shoes and short cowhide boots to footwear could be found. The ball ran out of air several times, so that the game could only be continued after the soul had been glued and the leather cover had been tied.
After the club was accepted into the Burgenland Football Association on June 12, 1946, SV Rohrbach kicked off the official championship in 2nd class middle on August 25, 1946. Since SV Rohrbach did not have its own sports facility, the home games initially had to be played in neighboring Mattersburg . From the 1947/48 season the home games were played in the neighboring municipality of Marz . Therefore, great efforts were made to build their own sports facility. On July 31, 1949 the time had come for the SV Rohrbach sports facility to be opened with a tournament. The new home gave the necessary support, because only two years later the first success could be achieved by winning the championship title. The team was in the 1950/51 season champion of the 2nd class middle rose to the 1st class B North.
In 1956, SV Rohrbach joined the General Sports Association of Austria (ASVÖ). In the championship, the club was able to establish itself in the 1st class. In the 1960/61 season the SV Rohrbach landed the next success and became champion in the 1st class middle and thus rose to the II. League North. Only four years later succeeded in the 1964/65 season of the championship title in the II. League North, with which the SV Rohrbach rose to promotion to the Burgenland regional league. There the SV Rohrbach could only hold its own for two years before the path to the II. Northern League had to be started again in the 1967/68 season. At SV Rohrbach, this was only seen as an "accident", as the club was promoted back to the Burgenland regional league a year later. How strong the team was, they showed on July 13, 1969 with a 2-1 victory in a friendly match against the Hungarian first division side Videoton Székesfehérvár . The community also joined the prevailing enthusiasm for football and made the construction of the changing rooms possible with generous support.
At the same time, thanks to the initiative of the former player Rudolf Hüller, there was a complete rethinking of the youth work. Hüller, who had passed the license trainer exam, motivated the local youth for soccer and intensified the training for the school and youth teams. This work was crowned 1976/77 with winning the Burgenland provincial championship. Players from their own offspring were gradually built into the fighting team, which meant that the average age of the fighting team in the regional league was just 20 years. As a result, a third youth team was added with the boys. The conversion of the competition for reserve teams of the regional league into a championship for under-21 teams is also the initiative of SV Rohrbach under the then chairman Paul-Josef Hofer.
Due to the heavy use of the sports facility, which had remained unchanged since its construction, with training and match operations for five teams, it was in urgent need of renovation. In order not to have to move to other places, a training field was first set up on which the game was played for two years. To do this, the Ortsbach that passed the sports field first had to be piped and then filled up to seven meters. On August 11, 1979, the converted sports facility was reopened with a friendly against the Austrian army selection.
In terms of sport, SV Rohrbach had established itself in the Burgenland regional league and was an integral part of it for over 18 years. It was not until the 1986/87 season that the club had to relegate back to the middle division. This sporting low lasted only two years, however, because in the 1988/89 season, after the championship title was narrowly missed in the previous year, the rise again. By the way, the team's coach was the crowd's favorite Tibor Galántai , who was once a teammate of Tibor Nyilasi at Ferencváros Budapest .
Attendance records
In the following years the SV Rohrbach established itself consistently in the upper half of the table of the national league. Under coach Karl Rosner , the club qualified for the ÖFB Cup in 1990/91 with a fourth place in the regional league. On August 3, 1991, the Rohrbachers reached the first round of the ÖFB Cup 1991/92 with a 1-1 draw after extra time and a 4-2 win on penalties at SC Eisenstadt and in the second round on August 14, 1991 after a 3: 3 draw and a 6: 5 victory on penalties, with the only 16-year-old Rainer Schütz scoring the decisive goal, sensational cup successes against defending champion SV Stockerau . The reward for this was the game in the third round against the record champions SK Rapid Wien . The game on October 12, 1991 became a real folk festival. Even the additional grandstands were filled to the brim, because no fewer than 7,000 spectators did not want to miss this game in the municipality of only 2,600 inhabitants, thus ensuring an all-time record. The fact that the game was lost with 0:10 didn't detract from the great atmosphere.
The money raised was well invested, because in 1992 a floodlight system suitable for championships was built. This was handed over to its destination with a 2-0 victory in the local derby against SV Mattersburg in front of 2,600 spectators. Under coach Ladislav Kuna and player- coach Franz Weiss , SV Rohrbach ended up in second place in the national league at the end of the 1992/93 season behind ASKÖ Klingenbach and ahead of SV Mattersburg. The 1993/94 season was also finished with second place under coach Josef Degeorgi , this time behind SV Mattersburg. In the derby against SV Mattersburg on October 31, 1993, which ended with a 1-0 victory, there was a new record for championship games with 4000 spectators.
Promotion to the Regionalliga Ost
In the 1998/99 season, SV Rohrbach had finally achieved its goal. With a seven-point lead over SC Neudörfl and SC Güssing, the fighting team secured the Burgenland national championship title and the associated promotion to the Regionalliga Ost . The decisive factor was that the team coached by Christian Janitsch only suffered three defeats and remained unbeaten in their own place. In the 1999/2000 season , the club also trusted the numerous self-made players in the third-highest league, who, however, were not used to the higher pace and promptly had to relegate. The squad of the team consisted of the following players: Roland Gerdenitsch ; Johannes Knoll, Johann Gruber, Alexander Gerdenitsch, Patrick Müllner, Rainer Schütz, Roland Moder ( ), Peter Pusitz, Rainer Heidenreich, Roman Trinko, Joachim Moricz, Jürgen Holzinger, Michael Fasching, Jürgen Kutrovatz, Vijeko Kordic ( ), Roman Rauhofer, Péter Farkas ( ), Marko Stifter and Wolfgang Kumnig.
The subsequent guest appearance in the national league was short-lived, however, because SV Rohrbach ended the 2000/01 season as the superior champions with an eight point lead over SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 . With this, the club rose again to the Regionalliga Ost.
As a result, SV Rohrbach established itself in the third highest league. In the 2001/02 season , after coach Christian Janitsch was replaced by Franz Weiss in the winter, the team achieved a secured midfield position with tenth place. The 2002/03 season brought sixth place as the best-placed team in Burgenland, the best result in the club's history. The squad consisted of the following players: Roland Gerdenitsch, Georg Gerdenitsch, Michael Gerdenitsch; Herbert Kornfeld, Christoph Stifter, Martin Hareter, Patrick Müllner, Michal Bordas ( ), Johann Gruber, Rainer Schütz, Vijeko Kordic ( ), Roland Moder ( ), Bernd Illedich, Christopher Kutrowatz, Roman Trinko, Sascha Tesanovic, Clemens Ivanschitz, Michael Schmidt , Harald Huszovits and Wolfgang Kumnig.
The 2003/04 season also ended satisfactorily with eighth place, with SV Rohrbach proving to be the best home team.
Relapse into the second division
The crash followed in the 2004/05 season . The SV Rohrbach came under coach Hannes Marzi to only one victory in 30 games and conceded 104 goals, which meant that the team had to relegate as the last-placed team. In the following season in the Landesliga Burgenland, the team under coach Johann Dihanich found it difficult and finally had to be content with twelfth place. In the 2006/07 season, too, the team did not succeed and only ended up in eleventh place.
The 2007/08 season went even deeper. The SV Rohrbach came under coach Markus Tatar in the Burgenland League on the 14th place and had to start the bitter way to the II. League Middle. Although it was enough for the second place in the 2008/09 season, the gap to champions SC Ritzing was already seven points. The 2009/10 season ended with third place. It was bitter for the Rohrbachers that the championship title went to the neighboring ASK Marz in front of the SV Markt St. Martin. The 2010/11 season brought again the runner-up title, but the gap to the champions ASV Draßburg was eleven points. The 2011/12 season was disappointing, when SV Rohrbach managed to avoid relegation with 13th place. The 2012/13 season was also not exactly successful with tenth place.
2013/14 season
In the 2013/14 season, SV Rohrbach wants to put an end to this negative series. The team trained by Christoph Stifter wants to be at the forefront again, which they managed to do in the first half of the championship. The SV Rohrbach squad consists of the following players: Michael Gerdenitsch, Philipp Radowan; Denis Ajpek, Mario Buchinger, Hrvoje Dukic, Bernd Eibler, Lukas Fekete, Andreas Fichtinger, Günter Fröch, Ernst Fürsatz, Thomas Gerdenitsch, Philip Hahn, Lukas Holzmann, Michal Hrasna, Christopher Ivanschitz, Christoph Krausl, Martin Kutrowatz, Alexander Letnansky, Philipp Mihalits , Andreas Moritz, Alexander Pusitz, Michael Riegler, Thomas Schmidt, David Simmel, Bernd Soffried, Mathias Tergatschnig, Marko Tesanovic, Sascha Tesanovic, Christoph Tiewald, Philip Tiewald, Daniel Tomassovits and Rene Wrba.
