Career

National player and series champion in Vienna

Hans Dihanich began his career with his hometown club ASKÖ Klingenbach, where he was poached by Wiener Austria in 1978 . In the violets, the defender was often used in midfield and was three times Austrian champion in his first three seasons . Under Karl Stotz he also celebrated a successful debut in the Austrian national team on October 8, 1980 with a 3-1 win over Hungary . Hans Dihanich also played in five of the remaining seven games of the successful World Cup qualification in 1982 . Although he also participated in the victorious World Cup tests against Hungary and Czechoslovakia, he was only a substitute for the finals in Spain.

At Austria, Hans Dihanich under Václav Halama achieved his greatest success at club level in 1983 when he entered the European Cup semi- finals against Real Madrid via Panathinaikos Athens , Galatasaray Istanbul and FC Barcelona ; Problems with the coach led to a one-year interlude at SSW Innsbruck . After his return to Austria, Hans Dihanich celebrated a short-term comeback in the national team in 1984. Ultimately he was able to win two more Austrian championships before moving to the smaller GAK in 1987 .

Career end and coaching activities

After two years in the 1st division in Graz, Hans Dihanich went to SK VÖEST Linz in 1989 in the 2nd division , with which he was promoted to the 1st division in 1991 with first place in the middle play-off . The defender stayed in the 2nd division and went to FavAC . In 1992 he finally returned to his parent club ASKÖ Klingenbach, where he later began to work as a player coach. From 1994 to 1996 the Klingenbachers played in the 2nd division for two years.

In 2000 he returned to the Bundesliga, initially as an assistant coach at the GAK and from 2001 to 2005 as an assistant coach at Wiener Austria, winning the Austrian championship in 2003. After engagements with SV Rohrbach and ASKÖ Klingenbach, Hans Dihanich trained SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 in the first division in 2007/08 , but could not prevent relegation. At the end of 2008 he was appointed trainer of the Vienna Austria Amateure to succeed Thomas Janeschitz .
