Djuro Hranić (born March 20, 1961 in Cerić near Nuštar , SR Croatia , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Đakovo-Osijek .

Life

Djuro Hranić attended elementary school in his local parish Cerić. The grammar school in 1975-1977 in Osijek . He then continued his education at the Episcopal High School Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Đakovo, where he obtained his Matura in 1979. He successfully completed his theology and philosophy studies in Đakovo until 1986 . In 1987 he continued his studies in the field of dogmatics at the Pontifical Gregorian University and obtained his doctorate in the field of theological dogmatics in 1993. On June 29, 1986, he was ordained a priest in his home diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia .

From 1986 to 1987 he was parish vicar in Osijek. From 1993 to 1996 Hranić was given the job of prefect in the Đakovo seminary . As a professor in the field of dogmatics, he has been teaching at the Catholic Faculty in Đakovo since 1993 and acted as an assistant for the Catholic lay people. Since 1997 he has been a deputy lecturer in the field of theology in Đakovo. In 1998, Hranić took over the role of secretary at the second synod in the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia. Since 2000 Djuro Hranić has been a lecturer in the field of dogmatics at the Catholic Faculty in Zagreb. Since 1994 he has been in the presbytery of the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia. From 2000 Hranić has been active in the consultative council of the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia. In the Croatian Bishops' Conference he is active for the Catholic laity.

Since 1994 he has been editor-in-chief of the diocese magazine Vjesnik Đakovačke i Srijemske biskupije ("Courier of the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia").

Pope John Paul II appointed Djuro Hranić on July 5, 2001 auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia and titular bishop of Gaudiaba . The episcopal ordination donated him on 22 September 2001, his home bishop Marin Srakić , co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Zagreb Josip Bozanic and Archbishop Giulio Einaudi , the apostolic nuncio in Croatia.

On April 18, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Hranić Archbishop of Đakovo-Osijek.
