Marin Srakić

Marin Srakić (born July 6, 1937 in Ivanovci near Ladimirevci , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is retired Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek .

Life

Marin Srakić attended the classical grammar school of the Archdiocese of Zagreb . His licentiate of theology , he acquired after successful studies in Đakovo and Zagreb. He was ordained a priest on March 6, 1960 . He obtained his second degree in moral theology after successfully completing his studies in Rome . From 1960 to 1961 he worked as a pastoral in Slavonski Brod . From 1961 to 1965 he headed the Podravski Podgajci parish . 1965-1967 he worked as an educator in the Seminary of Đakovo operates. Between 1967 and 1970 he completed further studies in Rome and again took on educational tasks in the seminary of Đakovo until 1973. As rain he took over in 1977 the management of the seminary, to the year 1989. He is from the year 1970 to date Professor in moral theology at the Catholic Faculty of Đakovo.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Cercina and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia in 1990 . He was ordained bishop on March 24, 1990 by Cardinal Franjo Kuharić . He was appointed Episcopal Coadjutor of the Diocese of Đakovo and Syrmia on February 10, 1996. He took over the office of bishop on February 6, 1997.

Bishop Marin Srakić is in the Croatian Bishops' Conference President of the Commission for Canon Law regarding, President of the Council in matters of seminaries and vocations . He is a member of the papal commission in the Croatian Institute of St. Jeronimus in Rome .

He was elected chairman of the Croatian Bishops 'Conference in Gospić in October 2007, replacing the previous chairman of the Croatian Bishops' Conference Josip Bozanić after two terms in office.

In June 2008 Srakić was appointed Archbishop of the newly founded Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek by the Pope. On April 18, 2013, Pope Francis accepted Marin Srakić's resignation due to reasons of age.
