For the 1911/12 season , the NÖFV (Lower Austrian Football Association) announced a championship with compulsory matches for Viennese clubs for the first time. This championship is officially regarded as the first Austrian football championship . There was a second Austrian championship with equal rights in Moravia-Silesia . In Hungary a championship was hosted by the Hungarian Football Association for the seventh time. From today's perspective, however , when speaking of the Austrian championship of 1913, one is often limited to the first class of the NFV .

Founding members

Founding members were the 11 Viennese clubs of the unofficial championship from the previous season. All other clubs in the 1910/11 season were excluded from participation, including DFC Prague , Grazer AK , Teplitzer FK and Cracovia Krakow .

ASV Hertha Wien was the 12th club to be approved as the second class champion. Hertha Vienna was only awarded the championship title after the end of the season after several clubs in the second class protested against the championship title of Rennweger SV 1901 Vienna . The reason for this was that the club's pitch was one meter too short. The Rennweger SV 1901 still exists today (2005), but never made it into the first division as a founding member of the first championship prevented.

Austrian heartland

In today's Austrian heartland, the Lower Austrian Football Association (NÖV), which was founded on May 16, 1911, held a championship in Lower Austria and Vienna from September 1911 to March 1912 . The clubs were in a First Class , Second Class A , Second Class B and Second Class C divided. The German-Alpine Football Association (DAFV), which was founded on July 2, 1911, starts its championship one season later.

General

The master was played in first grade. It was contested by 12 teams who met twice during the entire season. Rapid became the first Austrian football champion . The question of promotion and relegation was solved with relegation games between the ninth and tenth of the first class and the master of the second class A.

EK1The game between ASV Hertha Wien and First Vienna FC 1894 was criminally verified despite the appointment of ineligible players from Vienna, who were known to have the same result as the game, 3: 4 for Vienna. Therefore, the Herthaner landed on a relegation place and you faced the SC Rudolfshügel.
EK2The Vienna Cricket and Football Club withdrew after several defeats at the end of the season and relegated to second class A. The results of AC Viktoria Wien were canceled as the club merged with the Vienna Cricket and Football Club . The cricketers also used players at Viktoria during the season.

    Crosstab

    The championship in the first class was contested by eleven teams who met twice during the entire season. There were originally twelve clubs, with AC Viktoria Wien only playing four games and merging with Vienna Cricket and Football Club after September 24, 1911 (probably not until December 1911) . All results of AC Victoria were then annulled. The first official Austrian football champion was SK Rapid Wien . On April 28, 1912, he played his first competition game on the legendary Pfarrwiese , defeating the Vienna AC 2-1. The last three clubs of the season had to be relegated to remain in the league, the bottom of the table, Vienna Cricket and Football Club, left the league voluntarily at the end of the season.

    Only a few data and the participants are known about the second class B, the third performance level: SC Hakoah Vienna was third in the second class B, the third performance level . The 1st Groß-Floridsdorfer FK Admira Wien made it into this class as champion of the second class C, the fourth level.

    The clubs ASV Hertha Wien and SC Rudolfshügel, who had the same points in the championship, determined the fixed relegation in the first and second leg. The first leg took place on July 28, the second leg on August 11, 1912.

    2nd round

    The loser of the first round, SC Rudolfshügel , had to play a playoff against the champions of the second class A, SC Wacker Wien , and also secured relegation with a safe and high victory and remained in the top division. The game took place on August 25, 1912.

    Situation in the crown lands

    In all other parts of the country of today's Austria no championships were organized at that time. The most famous and strongest clubs played friendly matches against national and international clubs.

    Bohemia

    The German Football Association for Bohemia was founded on June 25, 1911 and did not start its championship until 1912. In that year, a Czech football championship in 1912 was held in Bohemia, especially in Prague, organized by the Český svaz footballový (ČSF).

    Moravia

    The German Football Association for Poland was founded on June 25, 1911 in Lemberg , the first championship took place in the next season.

    Hungary

    11. Osztályú Bajnokság

    The championship was held over 18 rounds and found its winner for the seventh time in the Ferencvárosi TC . MTK Budapest and Ferencvárosi TC qualified for the cup final . The final was not played, MTK Budapest was awarded the cup by the association.
