Mistrovství Čech a Moravy 1896 to Mistrovství ČSF 1917
Football competitions in the Czech Republic have been held by the Prague clubs SK Slavia Praha, AC Sparta Praha and AC Praha since 1896 . The Prague clubs founded the Association of Prague German Football Clubs in 1900, which existed until 1903. The football association Český svaz fotbalový (ČSF), the predecessor of the Fotbalová asociace České republiky, organized a championship competition, Mistrovství , from 1902 . At the beginning only clubs from Prague took part, later the championship expanded to the areas of Moravia and around Pilsen. In 1905, the Czech clubs tried to initiate a cup competition, the Pohár Dobrocinnosti , English Charity Cup, which was supposed to be held in a group mode, in which the participants were already determined and yet not played. A year later, four Prague clubs played this cup competition in group mode, and in 1908 it was held for the first time in a knockout system.
