The Austrian football championship 1945/46 was the first football championship in Austria after the Second World War . It was organized by the league committee and contested by its members. The double-track Vienna 2nd class served as the substructure for the (Vienna) League . In addition, other federal state associations organized state championships in different modes.

First performance level - league

General

The championship in the league started again on September 1, 1945. Rapid and Austria turned out to be the strongest rivals in the course of the competition, the latter being among the front runners again not least due to the transfer of the later top scorer Ernst Stojaspal from Ostbahn. The decision was only made in the last few rounds: The Veilchen gambled away their 3-point advantage with a 2: 3 defeat against Vienna on Rapid just before the direct clash, in which the Hütteldorfer now believed the surprising chance for the title. In rainy weather in front of 40,000 spectators in the Prater, Franz Binder shot his men with four goals alone, ultimately leading to a clear 5-1 lead. In the last round, with a 4-0 away win against Floridsdorfer AC also in the Prater Stadium, the 15th title as Austrian champions in the club's history was fixed.
