history

Until 1944 the fusion club played in the 2nd class. Then the promotion to the 1st class (2nd level) was achieved. In 1947 the merger was reversed and both clubs started again independently. After relegation, the team was unable to recover for a long time before they were promoted to the Vienna League again in 1955 under President Karl Eipeldauer . The club used this time to renovate and expand the dilapidated stadium. From the early 1980s, the team lost the league membership of the top Viennese league and rose over time more and more frequently. In 2005 they achieved the long-awaited promotion to the Regionalliga Ost , but they could not assert themselves there and were relegated back to the Vienna City League as bottom of the table . After two years city league in 2008/09 the relegation to the Vienna Oberliga B , where at the end of the 2009/10 season only the 12th place could be achieved. In 2010/11, as the penultimate, relegation from the Vienna Oberliga B could just be prevented, but SV Donau returned to the Vienna City League after two years through the merger with SV Süssenbrunn in the 2011/12 season, where the same 9th place could be achieved. In the 2014/15 season, the long-time youth leader Nermin Jusic took over the fighting team as coach. After relegation to the 2nd regional league, the squad was massively rejuvenated with players from their own offspring. In the 2015/16 season, the fighting team reached second place in the table. This was enough for promotion, so SV Donau will compete in the Vienna City League in the 2017/18 season.
