Engelbert Smutny (born March 19, 1917 - October 31, 1972 ) was an Austrian football player .

Career

In 1941 he moved from the favorite AC to SK Rapid Vienna , where he celebrated his greatest successes as a player. In 1946 he became Austrian champions and cup winners with the Hütteldorfer . From 1947 to 1952 he played for the Viennese sports club before ending his career with lower-class clubs.

Selection / national team

Smutny took part in the competition for the Reichsbund Cup 1941/42 as a player in the Donau-Alpenland district selection team and was defeated by the Niederrhein district selection team on December 7, 1942 in the Vienna Prater Stadium through the goal of Josef Arens from Essen.

In 1946 he played three international matches for the national team of Austria . He made his debut on April 14th in Vienna in a 3-2 victory over the Hungarian national team . On May 5, he lost to the team of the French national team with 1: 3 in Paris and on October 27, the national team of Czechoslovakia 3: 4 again in Vienna.
