← Reichsbund Cup 1940/41 |
The Reichsbund Cup 1941/42 was the eighth and last edition of the Reichsbund Cup competition. Due to the Second World War , a new political-geographical division took place in some of the existing districts, and further districts were added due to the war of conquest. As a result, 25 regional selection teams took part in this year's cup. The competition began with an elimination round in which 18 teams participated. The seven teams from the supposedly strongest districts then took part in the competition from the round of 16 along with the nine winners of the elimination round. The trophy was won for the second time by the Lower Rhine national team with a 2-1 win over Nordmark. Defending champion Saxony was surprisingly eliminated in the round of 16 with a 2: 4 defeat against the Kurhessen team . Even for the two-time cup winners and last year's finalists Bayern was already in the round of 16 after a 3: 4 defeat against Cologne-Aachen . The East Prussian team, rated as relatively weak, only failed in the second round in the replay just 4: 5 at Berlin-Brandenburg .
This was the last edition of the Reichsbund Cup, due to the war, the competition was not continued. With the national cup , there was an attempt to run a similar competition in the 1949/50 season.
