Ernst Sabeditsch (born May 6, 1920 - June 30, 1986 ) was an Austrian football player .

Career

Ernst Sabeditsch was a runner and mostly played as center aid, where he made a name for himself thanks to his game overview and his header game . With the annexation of Austria he was in the Gauliga Ostmark , in one of 17, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Empire for First Vienna FC . Despite the adverse circumstances, he and his team won the Gaume Championship three times in a row from 1942 to 1944 and was also able to assert himself in major German competitions: in 1942 he was second in the German championship with the Döblingern and Tschammerpokal winner in 1943 against LSV Hamburg . As a soldier, he and his unit were transferred to the General Government in autumn 1943 . As a war guest player he was therefore active for LSV Mölders Krakow , which Ernst Willimowski also joined shortly after him .

After the end of the war, Ernst Sabeditsch was part of the permanent staff of the re-established national team , and in 1947 he took turns with Siegfried Joksch . His debut after eight years of interruption he made on December 6, 1945 in the 4-1 victory over the national team of France in the Prater Stadium ; Club teammate Karl Decker scored three goals.

In the also reactivated cup competition Sabeditsch failed on June 20, 1946 only in the final with 1: 2 at SK Rapid Vienna . His playing career came to an early end after a suspension for trading raw opium in the divided post-war Vienna in 1949. Ultimately, like his club teammate Rudolf Strittich , he was pardoned in 1952 and left the state league with ten point games for SC Wacker Vienna . He then worked as a coach from 1953 to 1955 at ASK Linz and in the 1956/57 season at the Swiss A national league club FC Schaffhausen , where he took over the position of Josef Smistik .
