Willy Jürissen (born May 13, 1912 in Oberhausen ; † October 30, 1990 ) was a German football player .

Jürissen, who emerged from OTV 73 Oberhausen as a goalkeeper , came to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen via Viktoria 09 Oberhausen in 1931 . The “gentleman in goal” was considered to be very good at controlling the penalty area and in the air, but he didn't like going down that much. His always neat appearance - underlined by his white goalkeeper gloves (at least at the beginning of his career) and his indispensable comb in his back pocket - soon gave him the nickname “Pomaden-Willy” . Nevertheless, or maybe because of it, he was considered an idol in Oberhausen. For Oberhausen he also scored various goals as a sure penalty taker.

During the Second World War , he initially served as a soldier in Lower Saxony and played for Eintracht Braunschweig . From 1942 he worked as a war guest player at Hamburger SV and the Air Force Sports Club Hamburg active, with whom he 1943 in the finals to the Tschammerpokal against First Vienna FC 1894 2. 3 n V, and 1944 in the final of the German Cup with 0: 4 against Dresdner SC lost. After the end of the war he returned to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, the club for which he guarded the goal in 43 league games from 1947 to 1949 and successfully converted three penalties . After the 1951/52 season and relegation from the Oberliga West, he was dismissed in Erkenschwick.

National team

Jürissen played six international matches for the senior national team from 1935 to 1939 , making his debut on August 18, 1935 in Luxembourg in a 1-0 victory over the Luxembourg national team. His last appearance as a national player he had on August 27, 1939 in Bratislava in the 0-2 defeat against the national team of Slovakia .

After his death, a sports hall in his hometown was named after him.
