    southwest

The 1st League Southwest , also known as the Zone League , was held in two regional groups in the 1947/48 season, as in the previous year. In the north group, the clubs from the state associations of Rhineland, Southwest and Saarland played, in the south group the clubs from the state associations of South Baden and Württemberg-Hohenzollern. The two group winners then determined the Southwest Champion in two finals, this was 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1948, as in the previous year. In addition to the champion, the vice-champion SpVgg Neuendorf, who was the winner of an elimination between the loser in the final and the two group runners-up, also took part in the final round of the German championship 1947/48 . After the end of the season, the clubs from Saarland left the game operations of the 1st League Southwest on the instructions of the French military government.
