The 1992/93 season of the Oberliga was the 19th season of the Oberliga as the third highest division in football in Germany after the introduction of the double-track - later single-track - 2nd Bundesliga for the 1974/75 season.

Promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga
In the three rounds of promotion, Rot-Weiss Essen and TSV 1860 Munich were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga as group winners . The third group winner, 1. FC Union Berlin , was refused the license for the 2. Bundesliga, whereby the group runner-up Tennis Borussia Berlin moved up as a newcomer.
