Holger Kretschmer (born January 3, 1966 ) is a former German handball player and current trainer who played for GWD Minden and VfL Bad Schwartau in the handball Bundesliga.

career

Kretschmer played as a youth at Haselünner SV, with whom he was promoted to the Oberliga North Sea in 1985, which at that time represented the highest possible division for A-youth teams. In the senior sector he played for 1. SC Göttingen 05 , VfL Hameln and VfL Bad Schwartau , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga. He then went to the second division GWD Minden, with whom he also succeeded in advancing to the top German division. He played for East Westphalia until 1998 before moving to the regional division TSV Burgdorf .

Kretschmer has been a youth trainer at NTSV Strand 08 since the late 1990s , where he trained his sons Nils and Finn, among others . With the NTSV he was promoted to the A-Jugend-Regionalliga 2010/11 and was one of the initiators of a cooperation with three other clubs from the Lübeck area, including VfL Bad Schwartau, where he was until the end of the 2012 / 13 coached the A youth Bundesliga team. In the 2014/15 season he trained the A-youth from MTV Lübeck.
