The 2004/05 season of the Oberliga was the eleventh season of the Oberliga as the fourth highest division in football in Germany after the introduction of the initially four-track - later three- and two-track - Regionalliga as the third highest division for the 1994/95 season.
The Oberliga Nord was played as a single-track league for the first time since the 1993/94 season.

Promotion to Regionalliga Nord
Oberliga Nordost
The second in the table in the North Season, MSV Neuruppin , and the first in the South Season, FC Carl Zeiss Jena , played the promoted team in the Regionalliga in two games after the end of the season . Jena won the first leg in Neuruppin 2-0, as did the second leg 2-1. Jena secured promotion to the regional league with two wins.
As the winners of the North Season, the amateurs from Hansa Rostock decided not to take part in the relegation games. As a result, Neuruppin moved up.
