The 1983/84 season of the Oberliga was the tenth season of the Oberliga as the third highest division in football in Germany after the introduction of the two-track - later single-track - 2nd Bundesliga for the 1974/75 season.

Promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga

In the two rounds of promotion, Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin and FC 08 Homburg were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga as group winners and FC St. Pauli and VfR Bürstadt were both runners-up in their group .
