The SV Osterfeld 06 (officially: Spielverein Osterfeld 06 eV ) was a sports club from the Oberhausen district of Osterfeld . The first soccer team played for four years in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.
history
The game club was founded in 1906 as FC Germany Osterfeld , which, however, disbanded shortly afterwards. SV Osterfeld 06 was founded as the successor. This made it into the top division for the first time in 1920, but had to relegate immediately after a league reform. After the Osterfelder failed in the promotion round at GSV Moers and Hamborn 07 in 1927 , they were promoted again a year later. However, the team missed the qualification for the newly created district league Niederrhein in the following season 1928/29 .
It was not until the third attempt in 1931 that the league succeeded. In the 1931/32 season the club reached its sporting climax when the team was third behind the Duisburg FV 08 and the Homberger SV . A year later, the Osterfelder missed the qualification for the newly created Gauliga Niederrhein and had to relegate to the second division. Towards the end of the Second World War , the game club formed a war game community with SuS 21 Oberhausen .
After the end of the Second World War , the game club was on the verge of promotion to the state league in 1947 , the highest amateur league at the time on the Lower Rhine. The playoff for promotion was lost in front of 8,000 spectators in the Niederrhein stadium against Elmar Alstaden with 1: 2. A year later the promotion was made up before the team had to return to the district class in 1952. In 1955, the Osterfeld runners-up in the district class behind the Duisburger SC 1900 , before the team had to relegate to the district class six years later. On August 10, 1971, SV Osterfeld 06 joined SG Osterfeld, which was founded in the same year . Three years later, the game club's longstanding local rival, SC Osterfeld 12 , also joined SG Osterfeld .
