The SC Osterfeld 12 (officially: Spielclub Osterfeld 12 eV ) was a sports club from the Oberhausen district of Osterfeld . The first soccer team played for two years in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.
history
The association was founded in March 1912. 14 years later, the club moved into the Kanalstrasse sports field and was promoted to the first-class Lower Rhine district class at the time . The game club stayed in the upper house for three years before the team failed to qualify for the newly created Niederrhein district league . After the introduction of the Gauligen , the game club slipped into the district class, but made it into the second-class district class from 1934 to 1938.
After the end of the Second World War , the Osterfelder secured the runner-up in the district class behind the Duisburg FV 08 and 1. FC Bocholt in 1947 and 1950 . It was not until 1951 that he was promoted to the state league , the highest amateur league on the Lower Rhine at the time. After two years it went back to the district class. The promotion to the state league succeeded in 1956. Since the Lower Rhine Association League was introduced at the same time , the state league was only the second highest amateur league. The greatest sporting success of the post-war period was the runner-up in the national league season 1959/60 behind BV Altenessen 06 . Just two years later, the Osterfelder went back to the district class.
It was not until 1972 that the Osterfelder were able to move up into the regional league for the third time. After the relegation just barely made, it went back down to the district class in 1974. There, however, the game club no longer competed, as the club joined the SG Osterfeld , which had been founded three years earlier, in the spring of 1974 . The club’s long-standing rival, SV Osterfeld 06 , joined this club in 1971 .
