The ASK Klagenfurt is an Austrian football club from St. Peter bei Ebenthal , a district of the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt . He currently plays (2017/18) in the fifth-class East division .

history

The ASK Klagenfurt was founded in 1945 after the end of the war in the Gasthof Wunder and considered itself to be the successor to the ASK St. Peter founded in 1928 . The club started playing in the Carinthian regional league and was able to secure the regional championship just before SK Austria Klagenfurt in 1946/47 . In 1949 they also won the Kärntner Landescup (3-0 final win against Post Klagenfurt on May 1, 1949), and were only eliminated from the following Bundesländer Cup in stoppage time against Vienna Austria . In the same year the club successfully qualified for the newly created Tauern League , which together with the B-League and the Arlbergliga formed the second highest Austrian league. The club was always able to play well for the place in the promotion relegation and took the ungrateful second place in 1949/50 , 1955/56 and 1958/59 . The best-known player these days was Gerhard Sturmberger , the defender later made 43 international matches at Linz ASK .

However, the club had bad luck in 1958/59, because on the one hand it was second only because of the worse goal difference behind WSG Radenthein , on the other hand the Radentheiner failed in the A-League delegation and thus took Carinthia's only place in the newly formed Central Regionalliga . The ASK Klagenfurt had to relegate to the third-class state league as second in the championship. The club stayed at this level for a long time in the following years, three relegations to the minor league followed again three promotions (1981, 1990 and 1998).

Before the beginning of the 1998/99 season, the Carinthian Football Association entered into a cooperation between FC Kärnten and ASK Klagenfurt for the purpose of promoting young footballers from both clubs. The players of both clubs started successfully in 1998/99 with the coach Emil Tassotti in the Carinthian league season with the name ASK / FCK Amateure. In 2000/01 the team ASK / FCK Amateure with the coach Hannes Haubitz became the Carinthian national champion and rose to what is now the third-class regional league center. After the cooperation ended in 2003, the ASK Klagenfurt had to start a new start in the lower league, as coach Karl Sommerauer, a former player of Austria Klagenfurt, was signed. However, there were two relegations in a row to the lowest Carinthian league. In 2010/11 the club rose (as third place in 2nd class C) to 1st class (there was only one of the four third placed players the chance of promotion), whereby Keutschach was eliminated in the relegation for the time being (H 3: 1, A 5: 1) and you benefited in the second relegation round from the waiver of the opponent (DSG Köstenberg).

In the 2015/2016 season, the team was promoted to the minor league after 13 years. You became a superior master, trainers were Manfred Mertel and Christian Trappitsch.

Ex-Bundesliga player Danijel Micic was signed for the 2016/2017 season .
