The FC Gratkorn is an Austrian football club from the Styrian market town Gratkorn and played from 2004 to 2011 in the first division , the second highest level of playing country.

history

The club was founded in 1921 as the Gratkorn sports club and took part in the Styrian regional league for the first time in 1936 . In 1996 he was able to become national champion and then started under the new name "FC Gratkorn" in the third-class regional league center . In the 2003/04 season , the club under coach Michael Fuchs finished the regional league in first place in front of TSV Hartberg and thus rose to the second division. The due relegation could be mastered with a 0: 0 and 1: 1 against SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 .

In the first year in the First League 2004/05 still on points with the bottom of the table, FC Gratkorn reached fifth place in each of the following two championships. The previous high point in the club's history reached the Gratkorner in the 2007/08 season , which they finished as runner-up in the first division behind Kapfenberger SV . In the 2010/11 season, the club had to relegate to the regional league as bottom of the table after seven years of membership in the first division.

On June 26, 2013, the association had to file for bankruptcy. Before that, an attempt was made to form a game community with the also insolvent Grazer AK . The over-indebtedness amounts to around 480,000 euros, with around 170,000 euros in bank liabilities, around 170,000 euros in tax office debts and outstanding liabilities in the amount of 123,000 euros in player and coach fees. The bankruptcy was justified by the club with relegation from the first division and the associated loss of television money. Attempts are being made to continue playing as an amateur club.

On September 23, 2015 it was announced that the 20% compensation quota had been met and the association was given back responsibility by the administrator Norbert Scheerbaum.
