A11-R. Since 2003 Oberlaa has been the name of a football club from Oberlaa , a district of Favoriten , the tenth district of Vienna . It emerged from the merger of the clubs SC Rapid Oberlaa and FC Austria 11 .

history

The association was founded in 1911 in Oberlaa, which was then still in Lower Austria . In 1919, the members of the football club decided to report the club to the police. After the club played in various classes of the Vienna Association for a few decades , it experienced its most successful period in the 1940s. In the canceled season at the end of the Second World War ( 1944/45 ) Rapid Oberlaa played for the first time in the highest Austrian league. In the following season they were relegated again, but Rapid Oberlaa managed to get promoted again for another three years. After relegation, Oberlaa slowly slipped into the fifth division and also played in the Oberliga A, the fifth highest Austrian level, after a merger in 2003 with FC Austria 11 under the name A11-R. Oberlaa .

Known players

With Josef Spale and Bruno Engelmeier , Rapid Oberlaa was able to produce two goalkeepers of international class who were also featured several times in the Austrian national team . Outstanding offensive force in the history of the club was Fritz Hollaus , who later became the first Austrian footballer to play in the Spanish Primera División and scored his goals for Atlético Madrid there . Furthermore, at the time of its first class, the club succeeded in engaging well-known veterans who let their careers end in Oberlaa. A well-known example was the midfielder Johann Urbanek , participant in the 1934 World Cup .
