history
- prehistory
The Imst football club was founded on April 19, 1933 by Franz Schöpfer, who was also a player, referee and first chairman. The membership increased when FC Imst became Tyrolean Oberlandmeister in 1935 against Landeck in front of around 1,000 spectators. The club life was resumed after the Second World War and the club started in the Oberlandliga. Until 1950 a meadow next to the secondary school was used as a playing field, until 1950 a sports field was built next to the secondary school.
FC Imst went bankrupt due to high debt and was dissolved on August 17, 1955.
- Start-up
During this time, a new football club, SC Imst, was founded, which continued to work with the same team and the team narrowly missed promotion to the Landesliga Tirol. This was realized five years later, in 1960, and the club celebrated the Tyrolean runner-up title another five years later. In the 1968/69 season the Oberlanders were penultimate and narrowly escaped relegation. The club installed the first floodlight system in the Tyrolean Oberland on the Imst sports facility. In the 1970s, the Imst players Norbert Schatz and Manfred Braschler moved to SSW Innsbruck . Due to a reform of the Bundesliga after the 1973/74 season, a second Austria-wide division was introduced, the Imster were relegated to the fourth level.
- Regionalliga West
Due to the 2nd place and the renunciation of promotion of the SV Hall , the Imster rose in 1982 in the Regionalliga West. During this time the Oberlanders played in the 2nd round of the ÖFB Cup against FC Wacker Innsbruck in front of 1,500 spectators and the club lost the game 3-1. In the next two years, 1985 and 1986, the sports club celebrated the cup victory . Two years later, the regional league times were over and the Imster were relegated to the Tyrolean league.
- Merger of SC Imst and FC Imst
After the 1993/94 season, those responsible for SC Imst and FC Imst, which has since been re-established and played in the West Regional League, decided to merge. This meeting took place on July 9, 1994 and FC Imst integrated into SC Imst and played as SC Imst II in the regional league West in the 1995/96 season before it was dissolved.
- Velly Arena Imst
In 1997 the sports club moved to the new stadium, which is part of the Imster sports center.
- Regionalliga Tirol
SC Imst continued to play in the Tyrolean league until the club had to relegate in the regional league in 1999. It was not until 2009 that SC Imst was promoted to the Tyrolean league. With a 3rd place, the Imster qualified for the Regionalliga Tirol in the 2018/19 season.
