history

Peter Mayr Bund

The Sportvereinigung Tyrol was founded in 1901, when the clubs Peter Mayr Bund, which was then renamed Peter Mayr Bund in the Reichsbund für Turnen und Sport, and Peter Mayr Sport, from which the Sportvereinigung Tyrol emerged. The name Peter Mayr goes back to a grandson of Peter Mayr, the landlord von der Mahr, who was responsible for registering the club's name with the club's coat of arms. Peter Mayr was a freedom fighter who went to war for Tyrol from 1804 to 1810. Before the Second World War, the association used a youth home in Reichenau with a soccer field, a swimming pool, a bowling alley and a theater stage. During the Nazi era, those responsible had to dissolve and shut down the federal government

Peter Mayr Sport

In 1936 the Peter Mayr Sport section was founded from the disused Peter Mayr Bund with football, table tennis, skiing and its own theater group. The Peter Mayr Bund itself was re-established on June 14, 1946, which joined the ASVÖ in 1951 .

Renaming to SVg Tyrol

A change in the name of the club, Peter Mayr Sport, was voted on in the spring of 1952 at a club meeting that took place in what was then the "Hallenbad" inn. Since the club also has a football team, the club members also suggested "FC Eintracht or" FC Pradl ", but they did not agree. It was Josef Pirkl who suggested the name Sportvereinigung Tyrol and was able to convince the club members. The" y "remained in Tyrol as a souvenir of the founder, Peter Mayr.
