The FC Wacker Innsbruck II is the second team of the Austrian second division club FC Wacker Innsbruck . The team has been playing in the Regionalliga Tirol , the third highest division , since the 2019/20 season .

history

The amateurs of Innsbruck got into the game in the 2008/09 season in the fourth highest division, the Tyrolean League . In that season they were promptly champions in the Tyrolean league , they had a lead of 15 points over runner-up SC Kundl . With the championship title one also rose to the Regionalliga West . In the debut season in the third-highest division, they also achieved the best position in the regional league to date, fourth place.

In the 2010/11 season Innsbruck II took part in the ÖFB Cup for the first time after defeating SC Schwaz in the preliminary round . The Tyroleans failed in the first round at the second division club SV Grödig . Innsbruck II finished eighth in the league that season, sixth in 2011/12. In the 2012/13 season they finished ninth in the table at the end of the season. They finished seventh in the 2013/14 season. In the 2014/15 season it failed to reach a single-digit place in the table for the first time, the Innsbruck amateurs only finished eleventh. With a nine-point advantage over FC Bizau , they had little to do with relegation . In the 2015/16 season they improved again to seventh place, in the 2016/17 season the team even came in sixth again. In the 2017/18 season they finished eighth in the table. Thanks to a league reform and a successful application for approval, Wacker Innsbruck II was able to move up to the 2nd division for the first time . In the debut season in professional football, Innsbruck II took ninth place. Although you had a big lead on the relegation ranks, you had to relegate to the regional league after only one season after the first team was relegated to the second division.

In the 2019/20 season they finished last in the newly created Regionalliga Tirol. However, the season was canceled after the basic round due to the COVID-19 pandemic , so the placement had no further consequences.
