The SC Kundl is an Austrian football club from the market town of Kundl in the Kufstein district in Tyrol and was founded in 1946. The sports club was represented in what was then the second-class Regionalliga West from 1969 to 1974. The fighting team plays in the Tyrolean regional league .

history

The SC Kundl was founded in 1946 by Ernst Wöll, Alois Wendtner, Max Riml, Raimund Springhetti, Leonhard Haas and Josef Haun . In 1958, the club rose to the third-class regional league for the first time , as a national champion in 1968 succeeded in promotion to the second-class Regional League West . The SC Kundl was able to play a good role in the second division right from the start, with third place in 1970/71, its best result in the club's history. In the league reform and the dissolution of the regional league in 1974, however, the sports club missed qualifying for the national league by four points on SK Bischofshofen , so the Kundler had to return to the third-class regional league.

The SC Kundl was able to establish itself in the following period in the third division, which was called the Landesliga until 1977 , then the Alpine League until 1980 and then in the new Regionalliga West . In the ÖFB Cup sixteenth finals, the club was able to defeat SSW Innsbruck 6-2 (3-2) in front of 1,500 spectators on September 3, 1985 under player-coach Bruno Schiestl . After the interim relegation in 1988, the immediate rise again succeeded. In the 1995/1996 and 1997/98 seasons , the Unterinntal team only narrowly failed as runner-up in the promotion to the 2nd division , and in 1996 the Kundler made it to the Cup quarter-finals.

In 2003 SC Kundl had to relegate from the regional league, and in 2007 they were promoted again as Tyrolean champions. 1,600 spectators came to the decisive championship game against SC Schwaz, which was won 2-1. Since summer 2008, SC Kundl has been playing in the Tyrolean regional league again.
