The Austrian football championship was held for the 103rd time in 2014/15 . The top division is the Austrian Tipico Bundesliga , which was held for the 41st time this season and was contested by ten teams. In four rounds, these determined the Austrian soccer champions and the representatives of Austria in the international competitions of the 2015/16 season. The second highest division is the first division , which was held for the 40th time in 2014/15.
First performance level - Bundesliga
Clubs of the Bundesliga 2014/15 |
The Bundesliga is the top division in Austrian football and will be played for the 41st time in the 2014/15 season and determined the 103rd Austrian football champion. The sports betting provider Tipico appeared as the main sponsor for the first time this season , which is why the official league name is Tipico-Bundesliga .
Lower Austria, Salzburg and Vienna each provided two clubs, Carinthia, Upper Austria, Styria and Vorarlberg one each. Burgenland and Tyrol were not represented by any team in Austria's top division. In the previous season, FC Wacker Innsbruck was relegated to the first division, and SCR Altach was added .
The TV provider sky Deutschland AG has the rights to show all Bundesliga games in full length that are broadcast on pay TV on the sky sport austria channel. The broadcaster not only showed all the games in conference call, but also as individual games. In addition, the ORF has the rights to broadcast the “top game of the round” as a single game - mostly on Sundays, in the case of weekday rounds on Wednesdays. This rule does not apply to the last two rounds in which all games must be played at the same time. In addition, the ORF is allowed to show a 45-minute summary of the remaining four games per round.
mode
In the 2014/15 season, as in previous years, ten clubs will compete in 36 rounds. Each team plays twice at home and twice against every other team.
Due to the good European Cup results of the Austrian teams in the 2013/14 season, the ÖFB improved to 14th place in the UEFA five-year ranking at the end of this season . Thus, in the 2014/15 season, two starting places for the UEFA Champions League and three starting places for the UEFA Europa League will be played out over the Bundesliga and the Cup . Champions and runners-up of the Bundesliga are entitled to participate in the qualification for the Champions League and start there in the third qualifying round; the third and fourth placed clubs play in the qualification for the Europa League and start there in the 3rd and 2nd round. The cup winner takes part in the play-off for the Europa League. Should the cup winner qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League, i.e. finish the season on one of the first four places in the Bundesliga, the international starting position will no longer be the loser of the cup final from this season, but rather the fifth place in the Bundesliga.
The last placed in the Bundesliga was relegated to the second-rate first division.

Second performance level - First League
Clubs of the first division 2014/15 |
The first league is the second highest division in Austrian professional football and will be played for the 40th time in the 2014/15 season. The Bundesliga relegated Wacker Innsbruck , as well as the two relegation winners Floridsdorfer AC and LASK Linz, joined the league . The FAC was able to prevail as champions of the Regionalliga Ost against SV Austria Salzburg , the winner of the Regionalliga West. The champion of the Regionalliga Mitte LASK Linz defeated the ninth of the first league season 2013/14, the SC-ESC Parndorf .
In the 2013/14 season, Lower Austria and Styria each have two clubs. There is also a club from Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Vienna and Burgenland. Carinthia is not represented.
As in the Bundesliga, the TV rights belong to the broadcaster sky Deutschland AG, which is allowed to show every game in full. The broadcast takes place on the pay TV channel sky sport austria and as part of a conference call of four games with the game starting at 6:30 p.m. Exception: the last two rounds, in which all games must be played at the same time. Sky can also choose a game that will be broadcast as the "top game of the round" as a single game on Friday at 8:30 pm. The ORF also has the right to broadcast the top game of the round live and in full. This is done via the ORF SPORT + channel .
mode
In the 2014/15 season, as in previous years, ten clubs will compete in a total of 36 rounds. Each team plays twice at home and twice away against every other team.
The league champion is promoted to the Bundesliga. The last two placed must be relegated to the regional league corresponding to their region. The relegated players will be replaced by the champions of the Regionalliga West and the winner of the two relegation games between the champions of the Regionalliga Ost and the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte in the 2015/16 First League season.

The Regionalliga Mitte is made up of clubs from the Upper Austrian, Carinthian and Styrian football associations. The Regionalliga West is made up of clubs from the Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg football associations.
The promotion mode in the regional league has been changed compared to previous years: Now there are two permanent relegated teams from the first division, which means that a regional league champion is promoted directly, the other two clubs play in relegation for the second promotion place. This season, the champions of the Regionalliga West will be promoted directly, while the champions of the two other regional leagues will duel for the second promotion spot in a two-legged game. In the following years, the champion of the Regionalliga Ost (2015/16) and the winner of the Regionalliga Mitte (2016/17) rose directly to the first division. This was decided by drawing lots by the ÖFB on May 12, 2014. A license from Senate 5 of the Bundesliga is a prerequisite for any promotion. Second teams are not allowed to be promoted.
The number of relegated teams is basically three per regional league. However, this can change if, on the one hand, the master does not advance to the first division or if the relegation ranks are influenced by the classification of the relegated teams. In any case, the last two places have to leave the league.

Relegation
Relegation to the first division
Due to the change in promotion mode, there will only be one relegation game between two of the three regional league champions from the 2014/15 season. The third team is directly entitled to promotion to the first division .
Since the winner of the Regionalliga Ost, SC Ritzing , was not granted a license by the Bundesliga, SC-ESV Parndorf took part in the relegation in 1919 as runner-up, as in the past two years. Opponent was the champion of the Regionalliga Mitte, SK Austria Klagenfurt .
The first leg took place on June 5, 2015 in the Heidebodenstadion in Parndorf , the second leg on June 9, 2015 in the Wörthersee Stadium .
