The ASK Ebreichsdorf (long name: "Arbeiter Sportklub Ebreichsdorf") is a football club in the Lower Austrian town of Ebreichsdorf in the Baden district . The club belongs to the Lower Austrian Football Association (NÖFV) and will play in the sixth highest performance level, the regional league, from the 2020/21 season.

history

The foundation of the ASK Ebreichsdorf dates back to 1922. The club colors blue and white were chosen. The founding members included Adolf Grillenberger, Franz Kowacs, Theodor Kedrst and Anton Zoklits. The first championship participation is recorded for the game year 1923/24 in the 3rd class East. After many documents were lost in the chaos of war and the NÖFV also had very incomplete records from this time, not much can be described about the history up to the Second World War .

The ASK Ebreichsdorf was able to win its first championship title in the 1951/52 season in the 2nd class East-Central (then 6th and last performance level), with which the club rose to the 1st Class South-Central.

At the beginning of the 1970s there was no association board, which meant that the ASK was about to be dissolved. Through the commitment of the SPÖ under the leadership of Hermann Uko, who was also a functionary of the ASK, the association was saved.

After the club did not get beyond the seventh performance level for a long time and at times even eke out its existence in the last division, it was promoted to the Lower Austrian sub-league south / southeast (sixth performance level) in the 1984/85 season. There the ASK Ebreichsdorf was able to establish itself in the upper half of the table and win the championship title in the 1992/93 season and move up to the Oberliga Ost. The existence in the fifth performance level was short-lived, however, because only a year later the club had to relegate again.

In May 2009 Erich Hietz took over as chairman and Wolfgang Martinschitz (as his deputy) the management of the club, and under their era, the ASK Ebreichsdorf should begin to soar to an unprecedented level. This is also because Wolfgang Martinschitz and his company "Ineltro Halmer Electronics GmbH" have been the main sponsor since then. In the 2010/11 season the club won the championship title in the now renamed South / Southeast regional league and rose to the fifth level, which was now called the 2nd regional league. The Ebreichsdorfer were not only able to establish themselves there, but also strived for higher things. On September 17, 2012, Hietz signed Goran Djuricin as a trainer and thus laid the foundation for further success. This came in the 2013/14 season with winning the championship title and the associated promotion to the Lower Austrian regional league . In 26 games, the Ebreichsdorfer had to admit defeat only twice, which led to a record advantage of 17 points over SC Brunn am Gebirge . The highest victory was celebrated with a 7-0 win against Langenlebarn. The top scorer was Thomas Slawik with 16 goals, who left the club after the season.

Promotion to the Regionalliga Ost

Even after the end of the autumn round, Ebreichsdorf was tied behind SC Krems at the top of the table. In the spring, the head-to-head duel continued, in which the Ebreichsdorfer prevailed with just one point ahead of SC Krems and were able to secure the much-acclaimed national championship title. As a result, the ASK Ebreichsdorf rose to the Regionalliga Ost, the third highest performance level. Above all, the home strength with 14 wins and 1 draw was decisive for winning the championship title. The highest victory was celebrated against the relegated ATSV Ober-Grafendorf with 8: 1 goals. The Ebreichsdorfer's most successful goalscorer was Christoph Monschein , who was signed by SC Brunn am Gebirge before the season, with 27 goals.

In the first year of play after promotion to the Regionalliga Ost, the club was able to establish itself among the strongest teams. Ultimately, the 2015/16 season ended with fifth place in the table. The ASK Ebreichsdorf also made headlines in the 2015/16 ÖFB Cup . After the Vienna Cup winner SC Red Star Penzing was eliminated 4-0 in the first round, the first league club SC Wiener Neustadt could be received in the second round . Once again, ASK Ebreichsdorf left the pitch as a deserved 3-1 winner. The Ebreichsdorfer met SK Sturm Graz in the round of 16 . In front of the record crowd of 2,500 spectators - extra stands had to be set up for this - the Bundesliga club was only able to secure the 3-2 victory in the last minute of the game.

Victories in the ÖFB Cup against Bundesliga clubs

What did not succeed in the previous year, the ASK Ebreichsdorf achieved in the ÖFB-Cup 2016/17 . The Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC was received in the first round on July 15, 2016 . The team grew beyond themselves and ultimately left the field as a not undeserved 1-0 winner. In the second round, SCR Altach was once again welcomed by a Bundesliga club. The Ebreichsdorfer overran the professionals from the beginning in front of 1200 spectators and already in the first half laid the foundation stone for the 3-0 sensational victory with hits from Sebastian Bauer (5th minute), Christopher Pinter (19th) and Marjan Markić (28th) . This was the greatest success in the club's history to date.

Withdrawal from the regional league

Despite great success in the regional league, the club withdrew to the regional league after the 2019/20 season was canceled due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Sports facility

The first sports facility after the club was founded was the so-called "Turnerwiese" in the castle park , before the sports facility next to Sportplatzstrasse was built with the help of the felt hat factory at the time. The players had to change clothes in nearby inns and wash in the Feuerbach, a side channel of the Piesting . It was not until 1954 that the new cabins were built. The cabin wing was expanded in 1972/73 by an extension. In 1978 the sports facility was expanded with a grandstand and in 1983 with a canteen. Since the old cabins no longer met the increased requirements, the cabins were rebuilt in 1995. The old cabins were then torn down in order to expand the training area. The existing floodlight system was expanded in April 2006 so that championship games could also be played.

Ebreichsdorf sports center

The new sports center was built in the era of Mayor Wolfgang Kocevar.

The space available on the city's old facility no longer allowed for an orderly game and, above all, training, especially for the junior teams. In 2010 the municipality of Ebreichsdorf therefore tackled the long-cherished wish for a new sports facility. In the Weigelsdorf district, next to the B60 and not far from the Weigelsdorf stop of the Pottendorfer line, a sufficiently large property was found that met all requirements. A new sports facility was planned under Mayor Wolfgang Kocevar. After the municipal council approved the establishment in February 2012 and pledges for financial support for the state of Lower Austria and the Lower Austrian Football Association had been presented, nothing stood in the way of the groundbreaking on May 21, 2012, with the keen interest of the population.

Ebreichsdorf vs. Austria Vienna , 2017-07-14

The new facility was opened on August 14, 2013 with a guest performance by the multiple Austrian champions FK Austria Wien . The fact that this was lost with 0: 5 did not detract from the enthusiasm for the new system. Next to the main field with floodlights suitable for championships there is an equally large training area with lighting. The cabins and the canteen including the event room are housed under the covered grandstand. The roof is equipped with a solar system. In the run-up to the facility, an asphalted parking lot for 120  cars and an adventure playground were built. The facility is also equipped with two beach volleyball courts , a skater area and a multi-purpose area. The costs for the new sports center amounted to 2.8 million euros. This exceeded the estimated construction costs of 2.5 million euros by 12 percent.

In the selection of the property and the planning, possible extensions of the facility were taken into account. Should the sporting success of the club continue, an expansion of the auditorium is urgently required. The parking situation is also unsatisfactory, even including the neighboring Park & Ride facility. After 1200 visitors had already been counted at the cup game against SC Wiener Neustadt , the cup game against SK Sturm Graz on October 27, 2015 on the 1000-spectator facility, for which three grandstands were set up. In championship operation, the average is 700 spectators. Ebreichsdorf's Mayor Wolfgang Kocevar is already thinking of acquiring the neighboring field to expand the sports center in order to enable the second team, which also takes part in the regular championship, and the nine junior teams to organize training and play.
