Louis Clément Ngwat-Mahop [ ŋʍat mahɔp ] (born September 16, 1987 in Yaoundé ) is a former Cameroonian football player and now coach .

Career

As a player

FC Bayern Munich

From the age of six to nineteen, Ngwat-Mahop played in his youth club Dragon Club de Yaoundé - also for a year in one of the lower leagues of Cameroon - before he was signed for the second team at Bayern Munich . In the Regionalliga Süd he made his debut in German football on August 5, 2006 (1st matchday) in the 2-0 home defeat against KSV Hessen Kassel . His first goal on August 12 (3rd matchday) was a game-changing one, as TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were defeated 1-0 in their home game. For the league game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 5, 2007 (32nd matchday), Ngwat-Mahop was first appointed to the FC Bayern professional squad by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld . He made his Bundesliga debut a week later in a 3-0 win in the away game against FC Energie Cottbus with a substitute for Ali Karimi in the 88th minute.

After the passport affair became known , FC Bayern Munich separated from Ngwat-Mahop after the 2006/07 season and filed a voluntary report with the DFB because a player who was not eligible to play had been used.

FC Red Bull Salzburg

In July 2007, Ngwat-Mahop won a test training session at FC Red Bull Salzburg . Those responsible in Salzburg were informed of the incidents involving the passport. After receiving approval from FIFA , he was under contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg. Sports director Oliver Kreuzer had previously announced the commitment. Hermann Gerland , coach of the second team at FC Bayern Munich, described the young Cameroonian as a “diamond in the rough”. Michael Streiter , coach of the Red Bull Salzburg Juniors, praised Ngwat-Mahop's speed and ability to hold the ball.

In 2009 - after completing the first season in the first team of FC Red Bull Salzburg - Ngwat-Mahop became Austrian champion ; he had contributed to this with three goals in 27 games. The 2009/10 season - apart from the 1st and 33rd match day - he paused due to a serious injury, but with his two appearances he helped defend his title. For the following season he reported fit again, but suffered another injury shortly after the championship began.

Iraklis Thessaloniki

In January 2011 he moved to the Greek first division club Iraklis Thessaloniki and came on January 23, 2011 (19th matchday) in the 3-0 defeat in the away game against AO Kavala for his first use. On February 5, 2011 (21st matchday) he scored his first goal for his new club with the 1-0 opening goal in the 15th minute in the 2-1 win in the away game against FC Panserraikos . With the withdrawal of his license (because of forgery of a tax document) at the end of the 2010/11 season - although he was placed in the secured midfield in terms of sport - he was relegated to the Football League with the club .

Karlsruher SC

Shortly before the end of the transfer period, the KSC secured the services of Ngwat-Mahop for the 2011/12 season . Again it was Oliver Kreuzer, now sports director at KSC, who brought him. On his debut for Karlsruher SC on September 10, 2011 (7th matchday), he scored the goal in the 2: 4 defeat in the away game against Fortuna Düsseldorf . After two games, Ngwat-Mahop severely injured his ankle while training, resulting in a prolonged absence and separation at the end of the season.

SCR Altach

Initially without a club, Ngwat-Mahop was obliged by the second division club SCR Altach during the 2012/13 season . One day after the commitment, he made his debut on August 7, 2012 (4th matchday) in the 1: 4 defeat in the home game against SKN St. Pölten , where he scored the 1: 2 in the 30th minute. At the end of the following season he won the second division championship with the team , which meant promotion to the Bundesliga . He left Altach after the 2018/19 season. In July 2019, however, he was put back under contract to play for the third-rate amateurs of the Altacher and also to work as an integration officer for the professionals. However, it should no longer be used for the amateurs.

As a trainer

For the 2020/21 season, Ngwat-Mahop became Alex Pastoor's assistant trainer for the professionals at SCR Altach .

Passport affair

In order to be allowed to compete for FC Bayern Munich in the Regionalliga Süd , Ngwat-Mahop had to be a citizen of an EU country . Apparently he was applying for a French passport. When the FC Bayern team wanted to leave for Hong Kong at the beginning of the 2007/08 season , Ngwat-Mahop stated that he could no longer find his passport. After a while it turned out that the French passport was forged and the passport number was attributed to a woman from Paris. According to the amateur trainer Hermann Gerland , the forgery of the pass was initiated by the player advisor and without the knowledge of Ngwat-Mahops.

Yalla Krüger, Ngwat-Mahop's advisor, however, stated on his homepage that the passport matters had been settled by a Cameroonian broker, with whom he had never worked before, and Ngwat-Mahop himself. On June 29, 2007, one day after the association had been informed of the loss of the passport, Krüger drove to the French consulate with Ngwat-Mahop and a copy of his passport to apply for a visa. Here one became aware of the passport forgery. Kruger stated that he had not seen Ngwat-Mahop since July 9, 2007 and said that he was personally deeply affected and disappointed by the development.

A preliminary investigation was initiated against Krüger based on the allegations. Since the allegations were not confirmed, the case against him was eventually dropped.

If Ngwat-Mahops had not been allowed to play in the 33 regional league games in which he played in the 2006/07 season had become known to the DFB before July 1, 2007, it would almost certainly have been the reserve team of FC Bayern Munich 2007 forcibly relegated to the league , which would have resulted in 1. FC Saarbrücken's relegation ; For this reason, 1. FC Saarbrücken announced in February 2008 a lawsuit against FC Bayern Munich for compensation for the economic damage resulting from the relegation.
