The SAK Klagenfurt ( Slovenski atletski klub or Slovenian AK ) is an Austrian football club . It is considered a calling card or identification point for the Carinthian Slovenes . After relegation from the Regionalliga Mitte in 2014/15 , the first team will play in the Kärntner Landesliga (Kärntner Liga) from the 2015/16 season. The club's second combat team (SAK Amateure) plays in 1st class. The club leads a total of 20 teams (2015/16 season) in three football centers.

Sporty

The high school team finished second four times in the first five seasons, and in 1975/76 they were promoted to first grade. The biggest opponents of the SAK at the time of the tower of the town signs were German national -minded referees and the spectators. Many games at the time were more like political events for or against the rights of the Slovene ethnic group than football games.

In 1978/79 he was promoted to the lower league, 1982/83 in the Carinthian league. - The entry into the ÖFB Cup quarter-finals was also a great success with a win against LASK in front of 2,000 spectators in Klagenfurt-Annabichl on March 28, 1987. After 0-0 after 120 minutes, there was a dramatic penalty shoot-out, in which the LASK began and which the SAK 3: 2 decided: Dantlinger fails to Ljubiša Dalanovic; 1: 0 Marijan Velik (into the right cross corner), 1: 1 Wolfgang Nagl, 2: 1 Wölbl; 2: 2 Piesinger; Lindenberger holds against Ivo Ramšak; Dalanovic holds against Köstenberger; 3: 2 Mario Pihorner; Karl Meister fails because of Dalanovic.

In 1992 the SAK put its youth work on new foundations and founded three youth centers in Bleiburg , Klagenfurt and St. Primus . Today the SAK is also one of the top 6 clubs in Carinthia for young talent.

In both 1991/92 and 1992/93 the SAK won the championship title in the Carinthian League, but could not prevail in the promotion qualification. The first time was LUV Graz, then SV Braunau winner of this game series. As third in the regional league in 1993/94, the SAK (along with champions WAC and VSV) was entitled to promotion to the re-established regional league center and was the first regional league champion to even move up to the second division. The guest appearance in the second highest division lasted only one year (season 95/96).

Five years later (2000/01) the SAK was relegated from the Regionalliga Mitte, but took the title again with a clear lead, but had to relegate again in 2002/03 (14th place / third from bottom) and returned as league champions in 2004/05 back to the Regionalliga Mitte, where he stayed until the 2014/15 season. From 2015/16 the SAK has to play in the Carinthian League again.

In the 2014/15 season the team reached the final of the "KFV-Villacher-Cup" for the first time (a goal that, according to the homepage and stadium magazine, has never been seriously pursued). The opponent was the Carinthian league club FC Lendorf - both in Klagenfurt and in the second leg in Lendorf there was a 1-1 draw, whereupon a penalty shoot-out was necessary, which Lendorf won 5: 4.

In the 2006/07 game year there was a collaboration with the lower division club DSG Sele / Zell from Zell / Pfarre (Sele Fara), also known as Zell ob Ferlach. The club, which was now called DSG Zell / SAK, then became champions and was promoted to the Carinthian league. At the end of the 2006/07 game year, however, the syndicate ended again, which was possibly the reason that the team had to relegate immediately.

A well-known functionary beyond his own club is the aforementioned Silvo Kumer (Silvester Kumer), who is the chairman of the Central Regionalliga in the combat team at the Carinthian Football Association. The sporting director and from 2003 club president Marko Wieser was also a player of the club for many years; he also played for SK Austria Klagenfurt, ASV, Bleiburg and DSG Ferlach. Today's SAK event manager Igor Ogris was a long-time player and played in the Bundesliga for Mödling / Admira Wacker. The trainers included a. also (in addition to those named in the following list of players): Tone Hrovatic, Helmut Kirisits, Franz Polanz, Jože Prelogar, Jože Stropnik, Tone Tomažić.

Well-known players at the SAK were / are u. a. Alois Jagodic, Ivan Ramšak (also known as Ivo), who later also coached the SAK.
