The sports club-Zaunergroup-Wallern , or SV Wallern for short , is a sports club from the Upper Austrian market town of Wallern an der Trattnach, founded in 1972, with a number of different sections. The club's soccer section has been playing in the Upper Austria League, the fourth highest level in Austria , since the 2016/17 season . The club colors are blue and white. The team plays their home games at the Zaunergroup Wallern stadium . The main sponsor is the Wallern-based Zauner Anlagentechnik GmbH, whose managing director acts as the association's president.

history

The local history of Wallern records the founding of two sports associations as early as 1924, which were dissolved during the Second World War. In the 1960s, several attempts were made to found a new association, which took on more concrete form in 1970 with the creation of a preparatory committee. The founding meeting of the Wallern sports club , which was divided into the sections football , table tennis , men's gymnastics, women's and children's gymnastics , skiing , curling and hiking , finally took place on June 20, 1972, under the direction of the then mayor Ottensamer, in the fully occupied hall of the Schaich Inn .

Until 1992: In the lowlands of Upper Austrian football

The football section of the club entered the championship in the 7th and lowest Austrian level in the 1974/75 season and initially had to pay hardship: after 22 games, there was only one counter and a goal difference of 23: 120. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the club was predominantly in positions in the front midfield, before being crowned champion of the 2nd class Middle East for the first time in 1982, one point ahead of SV Bad Hall . In the 1st season in the 1st class middle they finished 10th, in the second (1983/84), however, the defeated last place (3 points from 22 games, 17:70 goals) and climbed back into the 2nd class. Class from. As a result, the SV Wallern only occupied places in the table cellar until 1990 (4 times last and 2 times penultimate), before slowly increasing in 1990 and 1991 with two placements in the lower midfield.

1992 to 2007: From the 8th to the 4th division and back

In 1992, the SV Wallern set a significant course in that Ing. Manfred Zauner, managing director of a local company, was won as a sponsor. In the three years from 1992 to 1994, the club took second place, in 1993 even on points, but with the worse goal difference than champions SV Schlüßlberg. In 1995 the championship title succeeded, which marked the beginning of a rapid success story: The climber took second place in the 1st class middle , before he was superior in the following season in 1997 with 23 wins from 26 games (goal difference 100: 23) for the first time in the club's history rose to the District League North . There, too, Wallern immediately won the runner-up title (just one point behind SV Steyregg) and there, too, the club was crowned champions the following year: with 22 wins and 4 draws (goal difference 75:18), SV Wallern was the only team in 1999 Upper Austria, which remained undefeated throughout the season. After two seasons in the front midfield of the 2. Landesliga West , Wallern also celebrated a superior championship title there in 2002 (league record of 73 points) and thus made the leap from the 8th to the 4th Austrian level within 7 years. In the 1st regional league (or from 2004 Upper Austria league ) the upward trend came to an end and reversed in the 5th season when Wallern missed relegation by one point in 2007 and voluntarily relegated to 2nd class.

2007/08: Pasching / Wallern syndicate

At the same time, in spring 2007, the management of Bundesliga club FC Pasching announced that the club would move to Klagenfurt and play there under a new identity and leadership as SK Austria Kärnten . In order to avoid that the successor club FC Superfund Pasching had to start in the lowest division, a syndicate was sought and a suitable partner was found in SV Wallern. The first team would start in the Landesliga West, the second team in the 2nd class. Pasching contractually guaranteed the possibility of terminating the cooperation after the first season in order to then be able to play alone in the higher league. In return, Wallern should receive financial compensation for voluntarily relegating to the lowest level. This was a shock for the sports management of the club, while President Zauner was satisfied, as he had been looking for a solution for a new start for some time. The season of the syndicate was extremely successful in terms of sport: The first team - Pasching again the following season - became champions with a 21 point lead and rose to the Radio Upper Austria League . The second team - Wallern again the following season - did not drop a single point in the second class in the Middle East and were crowned champions with a maximum of 72 points and a goal difference of 120:16. At the end of the season, the syndicate was dissolved as agreed.

2009 to 2012: every season a climb

In the following years, the now independent SV Wallern continued its run of success, which even surpassed that of the years 1995 to 2002: In 2009, with 70 points (goal difference 100: 22), they became the superior champion of the 1st class middle west , the following year with just as many points unbeaten champions of the district league south . In 2011 the next first place followed four points ahead of Ranshofen and so after only four years the club returned to the league from which it had to leave in 2007. There, the SV Wallern celebrated the fifth championship title in a row in 2012 and with the first promotion to the third-class regional league middle, the greatest success in the club's 40-year history.

2012 to 2016: Regionalliga Mitte

In the first regional league season 2012/13, the promoted player initially played in the upper third, but was then in acute danger of relegation until the end. Only in the penultimate round did SV Wallern secure relegation with a 1-0 win at direct competitor and later relegated KSV Amateure and finally ended the season with a five-point lead in 10th place. The following season, Wallern established himself in the league, with at no time to do anything to relegation and finished fourth with 47 points. In the 2015/2016 season you finally had to say goodbye to the second to last (22 points) from the Regionalliga Mitte.
