Max Babler (born July 30, 1990 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player and coach .

Career

As a player

Babler began his career at Union Neumarkt / Mühlkreis . For the 2004/05 season he came to AKA Linz . 2009 he moved to the amateurs of LASK in the Upper Austrian League . For the 2010/11 season he moved to the Regionalliga Mitte for FC Blau-Weiß Linz . With BW Linz he was able to advance to professional football that season. In the second division , however, he was not used due to an injury. In January 2012 it was awarded for half a year to the regional league team Union St. Florian . He was also firmly committed by St. Florian in the summer of 2012. For the 2013/14 season he returned to BW Linz, which had since been relegated to the regional league. After that season he ended his career due to several cruciate ligament tears.

Three years after the end of his active career, Babler finally came to play as a player in the second division as assistant coach of Blau-Weiß Linz : On May 26, 2017 he was substituted on for Markus Blutsch against FC Liefering in stoppage time . The background was the very tense personal situation with many injured or suspended players in this game, so that assistant coach Babler was called up as a substitute player.

In the 2018/19 season he made another comeback as a player: for his youth club Neumarkt he made five appearances in the eight-class second class .

As a trainer

After the end of his career, Babler initially worked for Blau-Weiß Linz in the field of marketing and organization. In December 2014 he became the coach of the Linz second team. For the 2016/17 season he became assistant coach of the professional team in Linz. After Wilhelm Wahlmüller's leave of absence in September 2016, he became assistant coach to the sports director and interim trainer David Wimleitner . Later he also stayed with the new coach Klaus Schmidt .

In December 2017 he became the coach of the fourth-class SV Wallern . Wallern separated from Babler in March 2019. For the 2019/20 season he became a trainer at the Linz Academy, where he took over the U-18s as head coach. In January 2020 he took over the regional division FC Wels .
