David Wimleitner (born January 21, 1976 ) is a former Austrian soccer goalkeeper and current soccer coach .

Career

As a player

Wimleitner began his career at SV Grieskirchen , where he also took his first steps in men's football. In 1998 he moved to the Bundesliga club LASK . In May 1999 he made his debut on the 35th matchday of the 1998/99 season against SC Austria Lustenau in the Bundesliga . With the LASK he had to relegate to the second division in the 2000/01 season . In January 2003 he moved to the regional division SC Schwanenstadt . In the summer of 2003 he moved to SV Windischgarsten . In 2004 he returned to the fourth division club SV Grieskirchen. In the 2005/06 season Wimleitner was able to rise to the regional league with Grieskirchen . After two seasons in the Middle Regionalliga, Grieskirchen was relegated to the Upper Austrian League . For the 2008/09 season he moved to the regional division FC Blau-Weiß Linz . With BW Linz he was able to advance to professional football in 2010/11.

After relegation to the regional league in the 2012/13 season, Wimleitner ended his career. In September 2013 and April 2016 he helped out as a substitute goalie.

As a trainer

After the end of his career, Wimleitner became goalkeeping coach at BW Linz. In October 2014 he became the sports director of Linz. After advancing to professional football, Wimleitner resigned from his post. In August 2016 he returned to BW Linz as director of sports. After Wilhelm Wahlmüller was given leave of absence , Wimleitner became the interim head coach until the beginning of October 2016. After Blau-Weiß Linz split up with coach Günther Gorenzel after 15 rounds in October 2017 , Wimleitner took over the team at FC Blau-Weiß Linz again until the winter break.

Personal

Wimleitner successfully completed a degree in social and economic sciences at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz .
