Union Gurten is an Austrian football club from Gurten in Upper Austria .

history

TuS Union Gurten was founded in 1961. After the club was relegated to the 4th class in 1966, in 1971 after two championships in three years the promotion to the 2nd class and in 1975 the promotion to the 1st class, in which one finished fourth in the 1975/76 season qualified for the district league. In 1980 you relegated to 1st class after finishing fourth in the previous season. After eight years in the league, the club came last in the table in the 1987/88 season and was relegated to the 2nd class, in which it won the championship three years later. After six years in the middle of the 1st class, Union Gurten reached first place twice in a row and thus rose to the 2nd regional league. There they only just managed to stay up in the league for the first three years before qualifying for eighth place in the regional league in 2003. After just missing out on promotion there in 2008 and 2012, Union Gurten achieved first place in the 2012/13 season and thus rose to the Upper Austrian League . A year later, as champions of the Upper Austrian League, the club made it to the Regionalliga Mitte , where they finished eleventh in 2015 . After Union belts in the Austrian Cup 2014/15 in the first round with 0: 6 against SC Wiener Neustadt was eliminated, you defeated in the season 2015/16 the Bundesliga side SV Grödig with 1: 0 and the first time managed so that a place in the second Round in which the SV Mattersburg lost 1: 3.
