Denis Thomalla (born August 16, 1992 in Pforzheim ) is a German soccer player who has been on loan at 1. FC Heidenheim since the 2015/16 winter break , but has been permanently signed to the Heidenheim team since April 2016.

Career

Denis Thomalla's first club was the Pforzheimer district club SV Büchenbronn . He then played in the youth department of Karlsruher SC before moving to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's A-youth team in February 2010 . With the A-Jugend Hoffenheim he won the DFB-Junior-Vereinspokal in May 2010 ; in the final against Hertha BSC he scored both goals for a 2-1 win. Thomalla was mainly used in the second team, with which he made promotion from the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg to the Regionalliga Süd at the end of the 2009/10 season . He made his Bundesliga debut on August 21, 2010 (1st matchday) when he came on for Peniel Mlapa in the 77th minute in the 4-1 win at home against Werder Bremen .

For the 2013/14 season Thomalla moved to the third division promoted RB Leipzig , with whom he rose to second in the Bundesliga at the end of the season . At the end of the 2014 summer transfer period, Thomalla was loaned to the Austrian first division club SV Ried .

For the 2015/16 season he was signed by the Polish first division team and reigning champions Lech Posen , with whom he won his first senior title on July 10, 2015. With the 3-1 win against Legia Warsaw , he won the Supercup with the team . During the 2015/16 winter break, Thomalla switched to the 2nd Bundesliga on loan to 1. FC Heidenheim , but was signed by Heidenheim in April 2016.

National team

In the 2009/10 season Thomalla was a member of the U-18 national team and scored two goals in ten international matches. He made his debut on July 29, 2009 in a 1-1 draw against the United States. He scored his first international goal on December 14, 2009 in a 6-3 win over Hungary with the goal to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute.

From August 18, 2010 to March 29, 2011, he completed eight international matches for the U-19 national team . He crowned his debut on August 18, 2010 in a 5-2 win over Belgium with his first goal, the 1-0 goal in the 25th minute.
