David Otto (born March 3, 1999 in Pforzheim ) is a German football player . The striker is on loan from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to 1. FC Heidenheim and is also a German national junior player .

Career

Born in Pforzheim, he started playing soccer at 1. FC 08 Birkenfeld in the neighboring municipality of Birkenfeld . At the age of thirteen he switched to the youth department of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In the 2017/18 season he scored 26 goals, which made him top scorer in the A-Juniors Bundesliga South / South-West season together with Manuel Wintzheimer from FC Bayern Munich .

The striker made his debut in the first team on December 7, 2017 under Julian Nagelsmann in the local Rhein-Neckar-Arena in the Europa League group game against Ludogorez Razgrad . In January 2018 he finally received a professional contract that will run until 2021. There were no further appearances in the professional team until the end of the 2017/18 season . In addition to his appearances in the A youth team, he was also used twice in the second team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Südwest . In the 2018/19 season Otto made his debut under Nagelsmann in the Bundesliga . In addition to three Bundesliga appearances (no goal), he was also used eight times (one goal) in the second team.

For the 2019/20 season, Otto switched to second division club 1. FC Heidenheim on loan . The attacker played 29 competitive games for the club, in which he scored one goal and six assists, but could not prevail against the more effective and also newly signed Tim Kleindienst . Otto finished third in the table with Heidenheim and competed unsuccessfully with the team in the Bundesliga delegation against Werder Bremen .
