The 1. FC Birkenfeld 08 is a football club from Birkenfeld .
The club, which was founded on July 1, 1908, played for a number of years before and during the Second World War in the then first-class Gauliga , although 1. FC was one of the founding members of the Gauliga Württemberg in 1933 , but was then divided into Baden leagues. In 1939 FC Birkenfeld rose to the Gauliga Baden , and during the 1940/41 season the club withdrew its first team due to the war.
After the war, the club merged with TV 1878 to form the sports association (SpVgg) Birkenfeld in 1945 , and the two clubs separated again in 1959. In 1950 the birch fields reappeared in the national field of vision when they were promoted to the 1st amateur league in North Baden. The 08ers were in the top amateur class from 1950/51 to 1964/65 . The best result was achieved in the round 1956/57, the 2nd place in the table. This was followed by a phase as an "elevator team" that was relegated to and from the league twice. In the 1970/71 season , FC Birkenfeld was finally relegated from the top amateur class and disappeared from national football.
In the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons Birkenfeld played in the Baden association league . Then you can find the club in the Landesliga Mittelbaden.
