The Das.Goldberg stadium (proper spelling Untersberg-Arena ) is a soccer game in the market town Grödig in Salzburg Flachgau and home of the Austrian club SV Grödig . The arena currently holds 4,330 spectators.

history

The stadium was built in 1989 under the name Sportanlage Grödig . With the aspired promotion of SV Grödig to the First League , which also succeeded with the championship title in the Regionalliga West in the 2007/08 season, an adaptation of the previous system was necessary in order to meet the necessary requirements of the Bundesliga, which are required for clubs in the second highest division prescribes around 1,000 seats.

After a tubular steel grandstand had been set up as a makeshift stand, work began on a new grandstand in 2007. This was built between the main playing field and the training grounds and connected to the old club building with a connecting passage. The appearance of the new building was kept in the colors of SV Grödig (blue / white), and the SV Grödig lettering also adorns the rows of seats.

After the renovation work in 2008, there is room for 310 spectators in individually numbered seats on the covered main grandstand. The facility also has standing room for 1,890 people. During the winter break 2010/11, another grandstand for 755 spectators was built on the east side of the arena, the parts of this grandstand come from the press stand of the EM stadium in Salzburg, which was removed after the 2008 European Championships . The Das.Goldberg Stadium has therefore offered space for 2,955 visitors since January 2011. The office, a fan shop and the players' booths are located in the catacombs. At that time there were around 500 parking spaces around the stadium.

After promotion to the Bundesliga, the arena was expanded in summer 2013 and now offers space for 4,128 spectators. In addition, a new access via a temporary roundabout on the Alpine road was built to relieve the residents. The previous access via Prötschhofstraße will therefore be closed on match days - with the exception of residents.

In addition to the main pitch , the stadium has a training field suitable for competitions and an artificial turf field . 1,100 car parking spaces and 13 bus parking spaces are available at the stadium.

On July 3, 2014 it was announced that the stadium will be called “Das.Goldberg-Stadion” (original spelling DAS.GOLDBERG Stadion ) from the 2014/2015 season . It is named after a hotel in Bad Hofgastein . The contract with the hotel was initially signed for three years. The hotel also took on the catering in the stadium's VIP area.

Only a good six months later, on February 18, 2015, the Bundesliga license committee withdrew the license for games in the top division for the foreseeable future because the pitch was unplayable. Since the SV Grödig club was unable to provide a replacement venue at short notice, the games against SK Sturm Graz and RZ Pellets WAC were postponed to March 11th and 18th, 2015. As the SV Grödig announced on February 20, 2015, a new pitch made of natural grass with associated underfloor heating , which became mandatory in the Austrian Bundesliga from the 2016/17 season , would be relocated from February 23 . The financing of the around 500,000 euros expensive underfloor heating was covered by 100,000 euros from the Bundesliga. SV Grödig hoped that as early as the following season, FC Liefering would move from the second-class first division into the stadium and the club could book rental income.

The Bundesliga home game on March 4, 2015 against SC Wiener Neustadt was played in the Red Bull Arena by league rivals FC Red Bull Salzburg . In the arena with more than 30,000 spectators, 823 spectators lost themselves to the Bundesliga match.

Following an application by SV Grödig, Senate 3 of the Austrian Football League examined the newly laid lawn in the stadium on March 9, 2015. The club was able to return to its home ground immediately and play the next game on March 11, 2015 against Sturm Graz in front of its home crowd.
