Effodeildin 2014

The Faroese Football Championship 2015 was the 73rd season of the Faroese top football league . The league is officially called Effodeildin after its main sponsor, the energy company Effo . It started on March 1, 2015, the earliest ever, and ended on October 3, 2015.

The promoted TB Tvøroyri and FC Suðuroy returned to the top division after one and two years respectively. Champion was defending champion B36 Tórshavn , who could win the title for the eleventh time. However, FC Suðuroy and EB / Streymur had to relegate after one and 15 years of first class respectively.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate improved to 3.51 per game, which was the highest average since 2011 . NSÍ Runavík scored the highest victory with an 8-0 in the away game against EB / Streymur on matchday 13. The highest-scoring game completed Víkingur Gøta and TB Tvøroyri with a 7-2 on matchday 18.

mode

In the Effodeildin , each team played against each other three times on 27 match days. Due to the previous year's placement, B36 Tórshavn , HB Tórshavn , Víkingur Gøta , NSÍ Runavík and EB / Streymur played an additional home game. The team with the highest points at the end of the season became champions and took part in the qualification for the Champions League, while the last two teams had to relegate to the 1st Deild , the Faroese second division.

Season course

Championship decision

With ten wins from the first 13 games, NSÍ Runavík took the lead right from the start, only the away games on matchday three against B36 Tórshavn and on matchday eight against Víkingur Gøta were lost with 0: 3 and 1: 5, respectively, but the advantage was still before B36, which so far only had no point on the eighth matchday in the 1: 3 away defeat against ÍF Fuglafjørður , they already had five points. After four games without a win, B36 passed NSÍ. From the 15th to the 24th matchday B36 remained without a point loss, so that the championship was already decided after the 24th matchday and a 2-1 home win against TB Tvøroyri in favor of B36, as NSÍ did not have a 0-0 home game against HB Tórshavn came out.

Relegation battle

EB / Streymur had to wait until the tenth match day for their first win, a 2-1 away win against AB Argir , from the eighth match day, before the team was tied with FC Suðuroy , they consistently finished last. It took again until the 24th matchday when the next win could be achieved, but the 2-1 in the home game against Víkingur Gøta was no longer enough, as the direct competitor AB Argir was successful with 2-1 against FC Suðuroy and the gap So there was no catching up to eighth place.

AB Argir drew the first five games and lost the next three. On the 19th matchday they achieved their first victory with a 4-0 away win against EB / Streymur. FC Suðuroy lost the first five games, the 3-1 home win against AB Argir earned the first three points. Three more victories followed, so that on the 14th matchday there were five points behind AB Argir, who were ninth in the table, and six points after the 18th matchday. On the 22nd matchday AB moved past FC Suðuroy for the first time with a 3-0 home win against TB Tvøroyri due to the better goal difference, with two more wins the gap increased to three points. FC Suðuroy came close to two points and had a chance to stay up until the last day of the match. A win in the away game against HB Tórshavn would have achieved this, but the game was lost 2-0. AB Argir was enough a 0-1 home defeat against NSÌ Runavík to stay in the first division.
