The Faroese Football Championship 1966 was held in the Meistaradeildin called the first Faroese league and was the 24th season overall. It started on May 8, 1966 and ended on August 21, 1966.

VB Vágur returned to the top division after six years. Master was KÍ Klaksvík , who could win the title for the tenth time. Defending champion HB Tórshavn finished in second place.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate improved to 5.00 per game, which was the highest average since 1958 . HB Tórshavn scored the highest victory with a 9-0 home game against VB Vágur, which was also the highest-scoring game.
