The Faroese Football Championship 1993 was held in the 1st Deild called first Faroese league and was overall the 51st season. It started on April 12, 1993 and ended on October 3, 1993.

The promoted LÍF Leirvík and ÍF Fuglafjørður returned to the top division after three years. Master was GÍ Gøta , who could win the title for the third time. Defending champion B68 Toftir came in sixth. However, LÍF Leirvík had to relegate after one and VB Vágur after seven years of first class.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.02 per game. HB Tórshavn scored the highest victory in the 7-0 home game against LÍF Leirvík on matchday four. The highest-scoring encounter was with a 6: 3 between GÍ Gøta and ÍF Fuglafjørður on matchday six and a 5: 4 between HB Tórshavn and B68 Toftir on the last matchday.

Season course

Championship decision

B68 Toftir stand after two wins at the top of the table, by the 2: 2 draw at TB Tvøroyri could HB Tórshavn catch on points. Only because of the goal difference, both teams swapped places after the fourth matchday. On the next match day, HB lost the away game 2-1 at B71 Sandur , while B68 played 0-0 at B36 Tórshavn and thus took first place again. This could be held until the 0-3 home defeat on the seventh matchday against KÍ Klaksvík , after which HB Tórshavn sat back in first place. Four draws in a row and the 1: 2 defeat on the twelfth matchday in the away game against VB Vágur let GÍ Gøta overtake, who had only received one defeat up to this point. In the following games, too, all games were won with the exception of a draw, so that the decision for the championship was made on the 17th matchday. GÍ Gøta won 1-0 at B68 Toftir, the winning goal came in the 15th minute. Since the runner-up HB Tórshavn did not get beyond a 1: 1 at B36 Tórshavn, with HB equalizing the lead for B36 in the 59th minute, GÍ was thus prematurely established as champions.

Relegation battle

TB Tvøroyri was the first league leader of the season with a 3-0 win against ÍF Fuglafjørður. Up to and including the 15th matchday, however, this was to remain the only victory, from the tenth matchday onwards only the penultimate place was occupied. Thanks to a final sprint with three wins from the last three games, they managed to stay in the league on matchday 17 and even jumped to seventh place one matchday later.

ÍF Fuglafjørður finished last on the first two game days and was able to leave this for the first time with a 2-1 in the home game against B36 Tórshavn. The team was able to briefly occupy seventh place with another victory on matchday five, but then slipped back to penultimate place. A 3-2 home win against TB Tvøroyri again ensured the jump to seventh place, which was also held until the last day of the game.

LÍF Leirvík started the season with three defeats in a draw, on the fifth matchday they achieved their first win with a 3-2 at home against VB Vágur. Two more wins and a draw followed, as a result of which LÍF finished fifth after the seventh matchday. In the remaining games of the season, however, no further victory should succeed, so the team initially fell to eighth place and from the 16th matchday only occupied the penultimate place.

VB Vágur won the second game of the season against ÍF Fuglafjørður 3-1 on home place, which could climb to sixth place. A fall to last place was followed by six games without a point win, this was consistently occupied from the fifth game day, only on the twelfth game day achieved the second victory with a 2-1 against HB Tórshavn. Nevertheless, the relegation was certain after the 17th matchday. VB Vágur lost 1-0 at KÍ Klaksvík, Arnold Joensen scored the winning goal in the 16th minute. Eighth-placed TB Tvøroyri was able to win 1-0 against B71 Sandur, with Torbjørn Jensen making an own goal in the 58th minute. The distance to the non-relegation place grew for VB Vágur to four unassailable points.

On the last day of the game, the second relegated team was determined. LÍF Leirvík was one point behind eighth place and two points behind seventh-placed ÍF Fuglafjørður with a significantly worse goal difference. They lost their game away with 2: 4 against B71 Sandur, while LÍF did not get beyond a 3: 3 in the home game against B36 Tórshavn. At the same time TB Tvøroyri, who had previously been eighth, won 3-0 at VB Vágur and thus secured himself relegation. As a result, LÍF Leirvík's victory would not have been enough to reach eighth place.
