The Faroese Football Championship in 1949 was played in the Meistaradeildin first Faroese league and was the seventh season overall.

B36 Tórshavn II withdrew from the championship. Instead, TB Tvøroyri was accepted as a new permanent member in the top division and was the tenth participant in this after the launch of the league game in 1947 . Master was TB Tvøroyri, who could win the title for the second time. Defending champion B36 Tórshavn finished in third place. TB remained free of loss points over the entire season, which otherwise only KÍ Klaksvík 1969 and HB Tórshavn 1973 and 1975 had succeeded. VB Vágur remained without points for the entire season. After the introduction of the league game in 1947, only MB Miðvágur 1947, B36 Tórshavn II 1948 , TB Tvøroyri 1963 and NSÍ Runavík 1976 remained without a point .

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 5.47 per game. The highest wins achieved TB Tvøroyri with a 10: 1 in the home game against HB Tórshavn II and with a 9: 0 in the home game against VB Vágur. The highest-scoring game was played by B36 Tórshavn and VB Vágur with a 10: 4.
