The Faroese Football Championship in 1992 was held in the 1st Deild called first Faroese league and was a total of the 50th season. It started on April 20, 1992 and ended on September 19, 1992.

The promoted B71 Sandur and SÍF Sandavágur returned after one year in the top division. Champion became B68 Toftir , who could win the title for the third time. Defending champion KÍ Klaksvík finished in second place. However, SÍF Sandavágur had to relegate after one and NSÍ Runavík after two years of first class.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate improved to 3.09 per game, which was the highest average since 1987 . The biggest victory achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 6-0 in the home game against GÍ Gøta on the eleventh game day. The highest-scoring game completed HB Tórshavn and SÍF Sandavágur with a 6: 3 on matchday five.

In the 1st Deild , each team played twice against each other on 18 match days. The team with the best points at the end of the season was the champions of this league, the last two teams were relegated to the 2nd Deild .

Season course

Championship decision

With two wins on the first two match days, B71 Sandur was at the top of the table, but they gambled away with four draws in a row. HB Tórshavn , however, lost the first game of the season away to B68 Toftir with 0: 1, but was able to overtake B71 with three wins and one draw on matchday five. Another victory was followed by three draws, so that from the eighth day of the game B68 Toftir was at the top. On the tenth match day, both teams met in a direct duel, which HB won 4-2 and was back in first place due to the better goal difference. On the next matchday the lead changed again, as HB Tórshavn did not get beyond a 1-1 away game against VB Vágur , while B68 Toftir won his home game 4-1 against SÍF Sandavágur . HB slipped to fourth place in the next few games. B68, however, did not give up the championship lead until the end of the season, none of the remaining games were lost. The decision about the championship was finally made on the last day of the match. B68 Toftir was able to defend its lead with a 4-2 at NSÍ Runavík , with the runner-up GÍ Gøta winning 3-0 at TB Tvøroyri . The decisive goals for B68 came in the 83rd and 85th minutes, but a draw would also have sufficed, even with a narrow defeat the goal difference would have been decisive for B68.

Relegation battle

NSÍ Runavík lost the first ten games of the season, the gap to the eight-placed was nine points at this point. This was followed by a draw and their first win with a 4: 3 away game against HB Tórshavn on matchday 12, but the last position could not be left until the end of the season. Already after the 14th matchday the relegation was certain. NSÍ Runavík lost 4-0 at GÍ Gøta. At the same time, the two direct competitors B36 Tórshavn and VB Vágur each played 0-0 in the home game against B68 Toftir and away at TB Tvøroyri, so that the gap for NSÍ could not be made up.

SÍF Sandavágur started the season with three defeats, on the fourth matchday the relegation competitor NSÍ Runavík could be defeated 5-1 in the home game and occupied eighth place at short notice. This was the only win for SÍF until matchday twelve. After the 17th matchday, relegation was certain for them too. The team should have won with a gap of four points to eighth place, but lost the home game against TB Tvøroyri with 1: 4 and ran after the deficit after nine minutes.
